Description
Marston’s love beer. The company has evolved since 1834 and has added many different breweries along the way. With different breweries, comes different brewers and with different brewers, come different ideas. This is how the Revisionist beer series was created. A platform to give our vast array of brewers a chance to brew the beer they want to see in our portfolio.

Starting with 5 individuals back in 2012, they were given the opportunity to offer their take on beer styles, to push the boundaries and produce something new. The Revisionist team is now made up of 14 brewing experts, all with unique ideas to create an intriguing portfolio.

I generally like wheat beer a lot. And was looking forward to drink this on The Train to Belfast from Dublin. It ended in The Toilet. No chance that I would end this one. Horrible. Hazed yellow color with a big white head. Grassy, herbal, wheat and an unpleasant sourness. Seemed pretty unbalanced all the way. No wheat and no banana. Medium body and a fine carbonation.

Bottle picked up from Tesco Watford split with Sarah at home. Caramel brown / reddy coloured pour with a lasting liht tan foam. Aroma is sweet berry fruits, strawberry jam, brown bread with a hint of roast. Flavour is composed of dark malts, litttle roast, sweet berry, little jammy fruits, hint of earthy pine in the finish. Palate is medium light, semi sweet, moderate carbonation and a little creamy in the mouth. Decent Black IPA.

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Dark red with a very thin head. Hoppy with dark malts also dominating alongside a mild but stated enough sweetness. Has a slight sticky texture but one that’s not detrimental.

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Dark amber with a thin head. This hybrid Beer has plenty of lager character in its aroma and taste, with a smoother ale-like texture.

Bottle from Tesco, Brighouse. Amber-orange, hazy, with a very thin head. More of a wheat ale than a wheat beer with a very light fruitiness running through its character.

Bottle from Tesco, Carrick-on-Shannon [100715]
Chestnut brown, clear, frothy off white head, light lacing
Aroma - Fairly hoppy, grapefruit, citrus zest, some fruity caramel, hint of lemon, then the citrus dissipates after a while, revealing more caramel and soft dark toffee
Taste - Caramel malts, some toasted malts, soft citrus zest, light grapefruit, no tropical notes just general citrus, dab of soft dark toffee, nice flavour, none of that Wychwood yeast
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, soft sweet, fairly bitter, good bitter sweet balance. Finish of soft citrus zest and dark caramel
Overall - More like a ’Brown IPA’ - I thought this was brewed at Marston’s? Certainly none of that Wychwood yeast here. Quite liked this.
