Description
Hopmonster beers characterise the ‘alter ego’ of Mark (George’s Brewery) and are therefore more hop forward and aggressive on the pallet. Which compliment the more traditional styles found in the George’s range.
Hopmonster was brought about by us knowing that we wanted to experiment with ingredients and hops to try and produce more funky ales than most drinkers would expect in their glass of traditional beer.

Chelmsford Summer Beer Fest. Cask. Hazy gold beer, bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Light malts, modestly sweet. Hops are mildly floral bitter with a light generic fruit. Very mellow melon on the end. Light semi dry finish. Such a subtle hop.

Handpull cask at the Kingston Arms, Cambridge. Dark brown with only a suggestion of translucency. Full of natural carbonation. A thin, tight beige head. Coffee, liquorice and slight metallic scent. Not much smoke... in fact not any in the aroma. Sweet taste and... yep, there’s a bit of smoke. Sweet with a bitter/sour hop balance in the long finish, underlaid by a gentle smoky note. Seawater, peanut and chocolate in the aftertaste. Very nice.

Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival at KEGS. Cask. Clear deep brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light, semi dry and finely crisp. Light caramel malts, not that sweet. Ripe fruits and bruised fruits. Little floral bitterness. Smoke? Not much of it! Light and fairly dry finish. Fine.
