Description
Established in 2014, originally brewing at The Med in Cambridge before moving to Pampisford then Burwell.

Turpin’s brewery is an independent microbrewery founded in Cambridge by local landlord, Marcus Turpin. With over 18 years of experience under his belt, Marcus and his team strive to supply the local area and beyond with quality beer to be proud of.

We recognise that your product can only be as good as the ingredients you put into it, which is why we endeavour to support local whilst never compromising on quality. we use the finest english malted barley from crisp malting of Norfolk and fresh leaf and whole cone hops from Charles Faram, whilst constantly looking to champion new english varieties.

Handpull cask at the Med, Cambridge. Mahogany, translucent with a big creamy khaki head. Clove, khaki, cress and redcurrant aroma. Disjointed. Taste is sugary sweet with a bit of earthy fruity hop underlying the sweetness. Herbal notes and glacé cherry in the aftertaste. It’s pretty good, in my opinion could use a little bit of tweaking.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 7/11/2016. Near black in colour with a moderately sized, off-white, head. Aroma of plain chocolate, charred malts and liquorice. Flavour had more chocolate and charcoal notes before a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Handpull cask at the Med (Turpin’s Brewpub), Cambridge. Mid-brown with a definite ruby glint. Some whitish head as well as generous lacing. Malty aroma with some heady dough, berries, toffee, and a hint of watercress. Take is markedly bitter and uniform throughout the sip. Long bitter finish with some vegetal notes in the aftertaste. Full body considering the ABV. A nice standard bitter, nothing too get excited about but it’s nice to try a new beer from this brewery.

Cask at the Mill, Cambridge. Very light golden-honey brown. Lotus biscuit spread, grass and a hint of orange peel in the nose. Light, bittersweet taste with a hint of hop. Basic refreshing palette. Unexceptional but a good example of a light English bitter. Welcome to Cambridge, new brewery.
