Description
On St. Patrick’s Day 2007, Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom was unveiled to a thirsty public. Double Mountain was founded by Matt Swihart and Charlie Devereaux with a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans! Ours is a “brewers’ brewery”, with an uncompromising focus on beer quality. From the beginning, our goal was to make beers that we liked to drink. All of our beers are served up unfiltered and long-aged, to deliver maximum flavor and character. The beers can be very complex and assertive, but with the ultimate goal of proper balance. We aim to satisfy both the hardcore aficionados and the more casual craft beer fan, all in the same glass.

On tap at bier thirty pours out pink brown topped with a small fizzy head. Nose is nice berries cherries barrel and some flowers. Taste is more of the nice sweet cherries aplenty tart barrel funk and some floral note.

Draft at Bier:Thirty. Lucent brown pour, small bubbles soon subside. Tart, sour nose followed by a similar taste, spot on for the style. Barrel aging accents hit all of the right notes.

Bottle from April of last year. Slight pop on opening, with a bit of smoke. Muddy brown pour. small bubble head. Aroma is malty and sweet, raisins, tobacco. Taste brings sweetness, malty, brown sugar, followed by a slight burn. Woody, earthy, dry. Nice and tasty, could drink this right down, but it's much better to sip and savor. Belated birthday to Double Mountain!

The bottled on date is very difficult to read but best as I can tell that says 11th September last year. It's definitely not fresh hop now. The Aromas are a bit like Cascade hops and maybe some Vienna malt. Flavors are like news, a little more bitter than sweet. Kind of balanced. Body is a little soft and an easy finish. Nothing to go back for.

The bottling date was messed up so all I could tell you is that it was sometime in 2018. The Aromas are old hops, Amber malt, mint. The flavors AR Bittersweet fresh hop qualities are gone with a full body and good carbonation. Too bad I didn't try it when it was fresh.

On tap at Portland Craft, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh piney hops and a soft biscuity malt base. Flavour is piney and crisp, with a nice punchy fresh piney hop character and a crisp biscuity malt base. Nicely constructed and very fresh. Really good.
