22oz bomber pours deep and dark with mahogany edges and a nice tall tan head. The aroma has a good roasty maltiness with mild level of dark roastiness, smooth and mild bourbon and tart berry like nuances around the edges. The taste is a pleasing mix of berry and pomegranate notes blending with roasted malts, a mild level of chocolate and smooth sweet bourbon essence. The rich malts and barrel notes go oh so well with the berry sort of pomegranate here. Just dandy.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 26 April 2012) Amber colour with brief, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of cereal, orange, marmalade, resin and apricots. Malty, fruity taste with grainy malt, apricots, orange and generous amounts of resinous hops in a fairly bitter finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Well balanced, quite hoppy and very nice.

Wood and caramel dominated aroma with piney accents. Clear copper, medium head. Fresh split oak flavor, caramel notes are understated. More citrusy orange peel in the finish. A malty IPA, just what I expected from Shmaltz.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy copper orange with a medium white head. Aroma is very resinous hop heavy, loads of caramel malt to back, oranges and grapefruit. Flavour of mandarin oranges, grapefruit, tropical fruits, buttery caramel malts, and truckloads of resinous hops that linger very pleasantly with little astringency. Excellent IPA.

12oz bottle poured into a Trappist glass. Saved for rating #700. Pours a very dark brown, almost black with a thin bit of off-white head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, citrus, pine, burned sugar, booze and dark fruits. Taste is light bitter. Very hop oriented with some of the malt coming out to play in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Flat carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. I would love to try this one again sometime.

I’ma gonna die. Killed a Bad Bunny bomber. Now for the real deal. Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown black with a creamy/fizzy tan head. Aroma is dates, raisins, prunes and arguably treacle and turbinado sugar. Full bodied. More than. There’s a touch of heat, but considering 15% it’s not important. I think the main flavor components are treacle and dried plum. It’s hard to find malt in this. It’s arguably a sugar bomb, but I’m sure it’s all dark, good and fairly natural. So it finishes sweet, but there’s so much flavor that’s not objectionable. Woosh! Quite a complex thingy here.

Bittle as shown. Pours a clear orange copper with a small cremy white head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a fruity hop and cereal. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop and caramel with light bitter finish. Easy to drink a good American pale ale.
