Bottle Fruity, strawberry and dirt aroma and coffee of course. Quite brown, small creany brown head. Earth coffee and fruity tastenotes. Slightly fizzy but otherwise mellow mouthfeel. Chocolate and burned coffee aftertaste.

Rich shining clear copper color with a dense, coating, off white head. Caramel malt in the aroma that repeats in the flavor. Starts sweet then becomes bitter on the tongue. Very nice. Highly carbonated, acidic start that quickly becomes malty caramel then turning bitter, finishing dry. Where’s the 8% abv??

Bottle Pours a jet black with a deep rich, thick tan head. Heavy lacing coats the sides of the glass. Aromas are of sweet molassas, cola, and charcoal. Stong sweet smokey flavors. Syrupy. Very thick, slick feel with a smokey lingering aftertaste. Thanks to MrFacto for the trade.

Love the label (somebody get that baby scanned!). Isn’t blood red as the description suggests, pouring with a lighter orange-red and topped by a thick light tan head. Grapefruit and other citrus notes dominate the aroma. The body is high on grapefruit and lemon, balanced by sweet, thin caramels and toast, finishing with piney bitter hops. Alcohol shows up at the end of the sip after the brown sugar flavors fade. Not thick-bodied but the flavors are dense and rich. Glad this finally arrived in Michigan.

On draught at Barley’s Smokehouse. Billed as the big brother to Burning River, I'd also say it is kissin' cousins with Arrogant Bastard. Pours a luminous red color with a medium and creamy light tan head. Thin rings of lacing throughout. The aroma is a nice blend of malt, fruit and hops. Rich and tart with robust bitterness. Hops, malt, fruit and alcohol play nicely together. The finish is nicely bitter hops, with a pinch of citrus and sweet malt. As usual I am impressed with this scary good offering from GLBC.

Bottle Pours a very pale lemon yellow with very little head of coarse bubbles. A thin ring of white musters up only slight lacing. Belgian spice aroma with lots of citrus. Agree with previous "unsweetened" clomment, with citrus and yeast. Moderate thick feel and I thought the carbonation was quite lively. Drinkable and not too heavy.

Something in me wants to like this beer but each time I come away disappointed. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a thin black color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was lightly fruity and hoppy with a hint of chocolate. The texture was thin and a bit watery. The flavor was strong with hops and really lacking in malt. I think if I was trying this blindfolded I would have pegged it as an IPA given how much the hops dominate and the malt disappears. Certainly a drinkable beer but a huge disappointment given the hype. I cant say that I would ever seek this one out again.

Bottle Pours a a slightly hazy light golden amber with a good foamy white head. Aroma is a light fresh smelling grain, apple cider, and yeast with an easy hops trace. Flavor is slightly sweet, bready and the slightly higer ABV is noticeable. Feel is very light and crisp and the finish is quick, clean with just a hint of hops. Very nice refreshing, light brew.

Bottle Pours a crystal clear amber with a small off-white head that settled quickley into a thin ring that ofers fine traces of lacing. Aroma is a nice deep malty, roasted grain. Wheaties. Easy on the hops too. The flavor is where the hops come out. Strong right up front but the malt comes to the rescue and balances it nicely, leaving you with a nice little birrter pucker at the end. The feel is pretty thick for the style I think and it goes down easy.

Bottle Pours a very dark redish brown. A large frothy offwhite tan head and some spotty, coarse lacing. Aroma is of coffee, smioke, leather and a bit of licorice. Not particularly full or rich though. Taste is smokey mostly, but then after a few seconds comes the bitter coffee flavor. Ah..60 IBUs.... Feel is very soft and easy. Good stuff Thanks to EddieG for the trade.
