Draft. A- Caramel, fruit, slightly sweet, mild booze. A- Copper color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Caramel, fruity, honey, booze, oak. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- I don't like Zipline's Barleywine as a base beer on it's own. However, when they put it into a barrel and it doesn't seem to matter what kind, it transforms into a thing of beauty. The bourbon adds a definite booziness to it but isn't harsh. The maple adds to that fact but does as a nice subtle sweetness and a new dimension. Pretty solid offering for sure.

Draft. A- Caramel, fruity, honey, sugar, raisins. A- Copper color, clear liquid, white head. T- Caramelized fruits, candied brown sugar, honey, mild rum, oak. P- Full body, chewy texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Nice stuff. Super well balance and doesn't taste boozy. A couple years old but very well done. The rum adds a nice sweetness to it without being cloying.

Draft. A- Dark fruits, chocolate. A- Black color, black liquid, minimal head. T- Grape, chocolate, light port wine, mild booze. P- Full body, thick texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Wow this was tasty. If there hadn't been a number of barrel aged beers on tap I wanted to sample, I could've nursed a couple of these all afternoon. Very smooth too, you'd never know this was anywhere near 14%. The port barrel gives a new flavor to an already great beer. Zipline knows how to use a barrel and I'm glad port is now in their rotation. This was not necessarily super duper complex but it worked very well. Wouldn't mind a bottle or two sitting around to age.

Draft. A- Rubbing alcohol, light, cocoa. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Cinnamon, cocoa, very mild peppers. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly spiced finish. O- Had a 2017, 2018, 2019 vintages to choose from and went with the 2017. At 3 years old, this was definitely mellowed out. Not a bad thing but most of the flavors had subdued. Think the fresh this is the better it probably is but that also probably means it's pretty hot. Aroma wasn't too complex but again I blame that on aging.

O- Not cloyingly sweet but that also means not a ton of flavor. Kind of reminiscent of those chocolate covered orange candy sticks. Decent.

Bottle sat in my cellar a year or so. Aroma is milk chocolate, cinnamon, light coffee. Rich flavor of chocolate, mild lasting cinnamon, subtle pepper in the finish. Spice is a afterthought. Barrel is soft yet shows the bourbon.

Bottle pour into tulip from share with AirForceHops--thanks, Chris! Appearance is opaque black with trace sparkle, finger-width light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong bourbon, cinnamon, chocolate, mild spicy pepper. Taste follows aroma but cinnamon is dominant feature, there's more pepper spice and bourbon and chocolate are not as strong. Still, for both, everyone is playing nice together. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth, silky texture, mild spice and heat and alcohol warmth, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, really strong all around. Likely aged about 12-18 months which may have mellowed the pepper spice and alcohol a bit. Very nice.

Draft. A- Weak. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Mild avocado, wheat, smooth. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Wanted to love this with the adjuncts in it but they played it way too safe. Almost no aroma. I get no saltiness, and no spice from the chilies. I would argue those aren't even in the beer. The lime is very very minimal but there and the avocado does come through a touch but only as it starts to warm and you definitely have to be searching for it. Love the concept but I think they should've risked going overboard rather than playing it safe. Novelty that I would like to see redone in the future.
