On tap at the brewpub. Pours with a hazed bronze body with a small tan head. Aromas are floral, citrusy and caramel. Flavors are bitter floral, citrusy and a bit earthy (mushroom earthiness minus the umami). Medium bubbles, possibly a bit too sweet for me.

Tap upstairs @ Wynkoop. Deep maroon appearance with a foamy brown head. Pretty potent nose- very rich caramel malty, toffee, dark fruits, fig, oak. Woody, quite rich caramel malty, toffee, fig, dates, dark fruit, oak, light vanilla flavor. Caramel, toffee, vanilla aftertaste. A little boozy but pretty nice offering.

Filtered golden-orange. Oily, lacy head. Pronouced, almost stinky Belgian yeast aroma. Sweet and full of Belgian yeast tones, with some moderate hoppiness to even it out. Overall pretty unimpressive, but an interesting venture.

5oz sample. Opaque black-brown. with a steady beige head. Medium bodied, creamy, pretty true to style. Light fruity pungency. Pretty enjoyable, a touch too mellow with the carbonation. OK.

Draft 5oz sample. Golden tan, creamy, patchy head. Somewhat subdued fruity hop aroma, tangerine, orange, quite nice. Somewhat toasty, maybe some slight butterscotch tones. Drinkable and decent, but the butterscotch tones end up holding it back.

Hand pump at Wynkoop. Amber-brown, looks filtered. Big creamy head. Room/cellar temperature, low carbonation, pretty true to the UK style. Quite mellow, toasty, with some fruity ale yeast tones. Refreshingly true to style, but still rather unexceptional.

Tap at Wynkoop - bartender told me it was a black ipa - decent enough pour - black with a fluffy tan head - nose is quite minty, with fairly pronounced citrus - smells like someone poured a mojito in my beer - flavor is and odd mix of dark malts (equal parts sweet and bitter), minty/herbal hops and citrus - it works less and less with each sip, as the sweetness and acidic characters seem to clash more extremely with each pass along the palate - meh.

Tap @ the brewpub. Pours pitblack, no head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, dark dried fruit, plums and raisins. Taste is complex with layers coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, light smoke, oak, whiskey, caramel, some spices and light chili. Full body, low carbonation. Nice barrel aged stout, tasty. 030311

Draft at Falling Rock, Denver. 2007, drank in 2010. Cherry brown with a beige head that laces the glass. Excellent raspberry aroma, pronounced and intense. Somewhat mellowed with age bodywise, but still displays some impressive depth. Oaky, woody, funky sour. Big raspberry taste. Some dulled out brown malt tones. Fantastic stuff.
