Pale blond and clear with thin head. Initial lemony citrus notes are pleasant but do fade out a bit too quickly. A fairly well balanced Tripel. Not overly sweet. A little spicy in the finish.

Whipped eggwhite foam; fed by well-carbonated golden beer. Dry malts, white candi sugar, spices and dried garden herbs. Dry, herbal with white candi sugar and sweet pale malts in the background. Lightly peppery finish, getting bitter(ish), even metallic. Not really thin, slick; stickiness averted by the good carbonation; long-lasting finish, sporting some sulphur. Pretty solid tripel, even when with more restsugars than some. Maybe some longer lagering would refine it further.

Small off-white head over faintly veiled golden beer. Spicy, whisky, lemon - smells like a whisky sour for all the world. Faintly smokey, some exotic spice. Sweetish-spicy, but in a special, likeable way. Like some oriental fruitliqueur. Whisky, OTOH, is very obvious, alcoholsweetness. Light to medium bodied (which signals serious alcoholthinning), but with a ferocious alcoholbite. Not very carbonated. Not half bad!

Yet another self-proclaimed 'bierfirma' with - so far at least - a single beer, brewed at Craywinckelhof... As far as I am concerned, this company, called FoxTown Beer Crew and located in Lubbeek east of Leuven, does not yet deserve a separate brewery entry here, but I'll leave that to the admins (and I will not go into the fact that the brewer himself apparently already gave his own beer a score of 4.2/5 here...). Large-bubbled, snow white, lightly lacing, coarse and bit irregular head initially stabilized by fierce sparkling but slowly showing gaps and eventually thinning into a disrupted ring around the glass; lightly hazy, pale straw blonde robe with somewhat greenish tinge. Aroma of halfripe banana, fried apples, hint of lime peel, dried lemonbalm, Conference pear, white bread dough, whiffs of soap, honey, yellow jelly beans, young 'jenever', minerals, straw, dusty old cotton cloth, potato peel, vague rubbery note and a - fortunately very faint - background note of DMS (cooked green cabbage). Sweetish onset, lots of banana ester with accompanying notes of green apple, pear and unripe melon with perhaps a vague dash of pineapple, sourish edge, lively carbonation with outspoken minerally effects; supple, slick body. White-bready and slightly wheat-soapy middle with ongoing banana ester, while the sharpish carbonation remains active and more and more phenolic aspects arise (4-vinyl guaiacol - clove, but a tad 'meaty' somewhere as well). Ends with lingering grassy hop bitterness underneath the esters, phenols and wheat soapiness, followed by a glow of 'jenever'-like alcohol, which could have been a bit better hidden. Sleek and stylized label, longneck bottle, English brewery and beer name, but nothing innovative in the bottle as expected - even if that 'postmodern' house style could well announce less classically Belgian beers to come, who knows... By itself, not a bad tripel per se, a sleek, slender and refreshing example of the style, so Craywinckelhof technically did a good job as usual; it's just that I don't see the need for yet another one of these. These guys will have to come up with something much more ambitious if they want to make a lasting impression. My inner fox is in any case still sound asleep after this one.
