Description
Olympia’s story begins with founder Leopold Schmidt, born in Germany in 1846. As an adult Leopold was an adventurer with the blind ambition of sailing the high seas, exploring the American Frontier, and mastering the art of German brewing. After training as a brewmaster in his homeland, the wild beauty of a new world was beckoning – Leopold set his sights on America. In 1895 he arrived in the Northwest and the following year founded Capital Brewing Company, which would become the famous Olympia Brewing Company.

Admin Note: Olympia was purchased by Pabst in 1999. The Olympia Brewing Company was a brewery in the northwest United States, located in Tumwater, Washington, near Olympia. The Tumwater brewery was closed in 2003.

Can. Sour barley malt aroma. Golden yellow color with moderate head. Slightly sweet-sour barley malt flavor - decent body for a pale lager but a bit too sweet. Was introduced initially to this beer my HS senior year - my older brother gave me 5 of his six-pack, but whenever he voluntarily gave me any alcohol without giving him any cash, I knew it would be nasty (in fact, the only other booze he ever gave me up to that point was a pint of MD 20/20) but beggars can’t be choosers so I heartily enjoyed those 5 beers. Not quite as good as I remembered though.

Aroma is disappointingly lacking. The color is gold and the white head left before I typed this. Some sort of hop note as the glass approaches the lips. Thin to medium body with creamy/fizzy carbonation. The flavor is pale malt and the hop is there. I don’t think there is anywhere near as much as it used to have. Still, it has enough hop to stand above all those watery macros. This could return to former glory, if they just upped the hop level. Oops. That might cost money, and then I’d have to pay more than $3.99 for a six pack. One good thing about this: with the low hop level it will serve as a base for stew and chilli.

Canned (thanks heemer77!). Pale yellow colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is slight papery with some hints of riped apples and malts. Flavour goes with the same with some metallic hints.

Canned. Pale ydellow, small head. Light metallic aroma. Sweet and somewhat estery with roundd mouthfeel and light-medium body. Sweetness makes it somewhat sticky. Absolutely no bitterness.

Can
Pale yellow color, decent white head. Cardboard and apple aroma. Apple fruity, papery flavor, malt profile is not very "solid". Very simple and straightforward, alcohol is not much shown (for being 6 %).

This was my very first beer and I haven’t tried it since, so I’m rating from memory. It was little more than grains, yeast, alcohol, and water. I’d say it was worse than Milwaukee’s Best

Actually cheaper than natural ice, and you can tell by the taste. Yellow. Chemical aroma. Even in this category this is bad.

This brew has poor college kid all over it. I remember back in college we used to get this because it was the cheapest stuff we could find. Even back then I could not finish it. Truly horrible stuff. Pale and flat with the most horrible metal taste.
