Originally rated December 2006. The one we get here is brewed by Strohs Canada (which is basically Sleeman’s). It is brewed at 4% (woohoo ! 0.1% more than in its home country). It pours a light yellow colour with a white fizzy head, that has not bad retention, and small amount of lace. Carbonation is pretty active, but only sticking to the middle of the glass (very weird). Aweful chemical nose, but at least it don’t smell like water. Smooth and almost creamy mouthfeel. Taste of rusty water at first kicking into a corn finish with hardly any aftertaste. Maybe light malt. Not a horrible beer, but I would prefer having an Amstel Light before this one (or even a Miller Lite).

Can. A pale yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma has notes of brewing cereal and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, metal, and brewing cereal, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Can 35,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Mexican "Sin Alcohol" version. Clear yellow with a white head. Sweet wort aroma, metal too. Medium body, heavy carbonation yet oddly soft on the palate, a little wort again but the metal notes dominate. Hardly any hops. 180611

Firstr time I’ve seen this around here! 16 oz cans case of 24 for $10. Looks like old mill and smells like it somewhat. Nice head and continuously visble carbonation. Some lacing beleive it or not. Taste of course is a little more than old mill. Tho the taste is not as bad as some of the ice beers I’ve had, it still has that alky upfront feel. Goes down fairlyh easy for a cheap ice (HEHEH, ice?) beer.

Well well well, me and the ORIGINAL old milwaukee finally meet to butt heads.... this mysterious beer, buried amongst the "dry" and other variants, was finally found in a fine dépanneurrrrrre somewhere in the Québécoise area. It pours very boring, white head and gold body. Blah, I say. Aroma of dry grains and slight cardboard. Flavour is nonexistent; there’s nothing there, really. But, the rice and corn adjuncts make for an okay mouthfeel, which is the saving grace of this one. Otherwise, well, yeah - it sucks.

What’s with the chick on the can? am I supposed to care? Drinking Old Milwaukee, I’m probably not too concerned about the label am I? Well, you never know about some tastes, but indeed in my further exploration of the "light" and "dry" phenomenon of North America, this was found in a sleazy fridge in a sleazy convenience store somewhere on that continent. So this pours bright yellow with a fair amount of head on top. If you inhale really deeply you can smell some cardboard, or maybe it’s particle board. Taste is nothing - nothing! And the palate isn’t that dry either, drier than a glass of water but not as dry as a "dry" beer should be. I wish all these "dry" beers didn’t taste the same, but they do, and that certainly shows in their ratings.

12 ounce can from Beer Run. Figured I’d give it a try for 99 cents. Pours a clear very pale golden colir with a large frothy head. Fair head retention and lacing. The aroma is totally dominated by creamed corn with some nutty malty notes attempting to poke through. The taste is grainy malts, nutty notes, caramel, grass and a slightly vegetal finish. Smells horrible but its not all bad. Highly carbonated, thin bodied.

Forty from Food Lion. Pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with a medium frothy head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is corn, sawdust, grass and light skunk. Taste is absolutely inoffensive and bland with faint notes of corn, sweet malts and generic beery taste. Thin and watery. Not a bad lawnmower beer.
