12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color, probably close to black but not quite, with a tan head. Aroma was chocolate notes, roasted malts, touch of coffee and toffee. Flavor was chocolate malts, roasted notes, with toffee and a touch of coffee. Alcohol is pretty well masked as this was quite drinkable. Enjoyed.

Purchased at Brusin’ Ales in Asheville, NC; enjoyed from my hotel room in North Charleston, SC while figuring out how much my honeymoon cost. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, thin white head. Aroma of chocolate, a bit of nuts, sweetness, and cream. Taste is pretty smooth, milky, has a very very subtle hint of sourness, chocolate and cream notes. Pretty solid and good stuff.

Purchased at Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville, NC; enjoyed from my hotel room after a week of gluttonous meals in Charleston, NC. Appearance is pitch black, moderate consistency, thin off-white head that laces to the glass. Aroma of chocolate, oats, and roasted malt. Taste starts off chocolatey and I can definitely taste the oats, but there is a sourness to it that is off-putting. I traveled with this one and thought that the change in temperature may have caused this, but have seen this in other reviews, so yes it does finish slightly sour. Not really a bad thing, just unexpected. Decent porter, bit unusual.

12 oz. bottle. Opague black, brown color topped by a tan malted milk-like rocky head. Complex roasted malt aroma with hints of soy, worcestershire and bittersweet chocolate. Tangy burnt caramel malt flavor sticks to the palate. This is a complex flavorful brew, but it lacks the intense bitter character normally associated with RIS’s. At 10% ABV, the alcohol is deceptive, not upfront. Like most Duck-Rabbit brews, the underying lactic prescence is here. Overall, a tasty brew, not to be missed

Clear reddish brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, madeira tones, quite sweet. Sweet malty flacvour, light bitter. Light bitter finish, old malts, light sweetness.
Not bad, though I imagine it would be better when fresh.

Thanks to GT2! Smells of strong alcohol and raisins, even plum or blackcurrant or something a little fruity. There’s also a heavy smoky aroma wafting out of the black dregs. Pours jet black, amber on the edges with little head. Taste has lots of black, roast and smoke malt with a heavy mix of alcohol. Heavy on the palate. Follow through is a hint of bitter and hint of sweet that hangs around the back of your throat like syrup. Amazing beer. 330ml bottle.

12 oz. bottle. Pours pitch black with a large, foamy, brown head. The aroma is molasses, bittersweet chocolate, toffee, and tobacco. The flavor is sweet and roasty, with a strong, bitter aftertaste. The palate is sticky, astringent, and thick. Overall, this is a strong and heavy beer, with very powerful stout flavors.
