New Brewery tick ? sweet dark malty with prominent sticky sweet caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, silky mouthfeel but has a rather light body, sweet caramel chocolate malty finish. Nice enough but maybe lacking some complexity.

Can from BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Lots of marshmallow in the aroma, with milk chocolate, lactose, vanilla, fudge, sugar, caramel, some coconut but too little. Flavour is quite sweet, body is medium to full. Hoped for more coconut, this is quite heavy on the marshmallow.

Can from De Baron Van Wolvega. Brewed with medium roasted coffee beans from India. Nice beany coffee aroma with cocoa, roasted malt, powdery chocolate, some mocha, coffee grounds. Flavour is light sweet and mildly bitter with a hint of cold coffee sourness. Medium body, no sign of the 11%. A bit thin, but nicely drinkable with a satisfying coffee aroma.

Can. Boy this is sweet! Lots of marshmallow in the aroma, with hazelnut, roast, milk chocolate, and vanilla. So sweet... Above medium body. Just over the top as far as I am concerned.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een pikzwart bier zonder schuim. Het heeft een gebrande wat salmiak achtige geur. De smaak is gebrande mout, chocolade en een volle dosis koffie. Knap werk!

330ml can watching a clarinet concerto on BBC Proms. Pours pitch black, almost no head remaining. Don't often go for desert stouts these days, esp those with marshmallow, but this is pretty decent.. excellent harmony of flavours.. nicely sweet.. good stuff.

Almost black beer if with a mossy, custard sheen under a small russet head. Liquorice, japwater , blueberry syrup, molasses, faint hint of mocha. Blueberry syrup with a metallic bitterness. Utterly unlucky combination. Bit woody, explaining some bitterness going towards astringency. Well-bodied, light alcoholheat, slick to viscous, good carbonation. Well, OK. Pastry, but there is much worse in that segment. And compared to the Black Threats mishap, at least acceptable. Txs to Stef!

Can. Almost black, good coffee foam. Aroma: sweet, caramel, cognac, blue dried fruits. Taste: sweet, caramel, chocolate, cognac, a little maple syrup, not bad.
