Gallia Paris
Microbrewery
in Pantin,
Île-de-France,
France 🇫🇷
Owned by
Heineken France
Established in 2009
In 2019 Heineken acquired a minority share in Gallia. In 2021 Gallia became 100% owned by Heineken.
In March 2021, we opened a second 6000 m² brewery in Sucy-en-Brie (Val de Marne), a few kilometers from the Pantin brewery. Initiated in 2019, the construction of this new brewery met the objective of increasing our production capacities. The Sucy brewery allows us to multiply our capacity by 5 to meet the growing demand for our beers.
Some history: In 1890, J.J. Wohlhüter, originally from Alsace, created the brewery La Nouvelle Gallia and developed its activity to the point where, in 1896, it became the largest brewery in Paris. Thirty years later, in 1932, the brewery produced 150,000 hl per year. During the 1940s and 1950s production continued but declined. At the beginning of the 1960s, threatened by competition, the production of Gallia beer was gradually abandoned and the brewery was destroyed in 1968.

Bottle (from Alko web). Hazy ruby red colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is lingonberries, some red wine like elements, along with mild forest strawberries. Flavour is grapes, some lingonberries, wood and mild forest strawberries and some fructose to it. Sweetish sour, but rather nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy amber with a small, rough, off-white head. Suoer perfumy nose, more flowers than citrus. Light body, super dry fruitiness with a discreet tropical note. The finish is dry and bitter. 210324

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma is floral, caramelly and ripe tropical fruity. Pours cloudy pale golden color with thin creamy white head, fair lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts refreshing citrusy, herbal and floral, following is grainy and slightly metallic, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is mild to average bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Not cocky, but quaffable…
