Gallia Paris
Microbrewery
in Pantin,
Île-de-France,
France 🇫🇷
Owned by
Heineken France
Established in 2009
In 2019 Heineken acquired a minority share in Gallia. In 2021 Gallia became 100% owned by Heineken.
In March 2021, we opened a second 6000 m² brewery in Sucy-en-Brie (Val de Marne), a few kilometers from the Pantin brewery. Initiated in 2019, the construction of this new brewery met the objective of increasing our production capacities. The Sucy brewery allows us to multiply our capacity by 5 to meet the growing demand for our beers.
Some history: In 1890, J.J. Wohlhüter, originally from Alsace, created the brewery La Nouvelle Gallia and developed its activity to the point where, in 1896, it became the largest brewery in Paris. Thirty years later, in 1932, the brewery produced 150,000 hl per year. During the 1940s and 1950s production continued but declined. At the beginning of the 1960s, threatened by competition, the production of Gallia beer was gradually abandoned and the brewery was destroyed in 1968.

Tap @ Le Rebelais, Dijon. Hazy pale golden and a fairly carbonated weiss with a small head. Tastes like peach.

Bottle at Cafe Boheme, Aberdeen. It pours clear golden - blonde with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is freshly baked bread, floury bap, floral, daisies, grass, hay and a faint twist of lemon. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, touch of dryness, hearty bready malt, baked goods, sponge cake, fragrant, floral, daisies, straw, grass and a touch of spice with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Fresh, fluffy and floral. Very, very drinkable. Satisfying.

330ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Aug 23. Pours a misty yellow, bubbly white head. Crisp, bright, prickly hoppiness with a nice fruity orangey hop character.. drinks well. Decent, but not a west coast IPA by any stretch.

Slightly confusing - barcode and ABV let me here, but the label says Nouveau Western - West Coast IPA. Slightly hazy yellow pour with a thin white head. Aromas of citrus and troical fruit, some peach and thyme. Flavours similar with some halt and a slightly bitter finish. Not bad, but unfortunately nothing special.
