Deca Brewery brews delicious gems such as Vleteren 8 & 12, Antiek 8 and Antiek 12.
It is also a liquor store and guides brewers with advice and logistical assistance in brewing their beer.
The Decaestecker Brewery, or Deca for short, was founded around 1880-1890 and destroyed during WO. I. The brewer not only made beer, but also lemonade.
The house is an eclectic wide house. The brewery was and is in the factory buildings behind it.
The brewery became after WWI. rebuilt partly with recycled material. In addition to the traditional cooling machine from around 1920 and the stirring tank from around 1850, the company has been completely modernized.
In 1980 he Jo Christiaens took over the former Decaestecker brewery in Woesten. Together with his son Nicolas, he turned the Deca brewery into a profitable brewery.

Bottled, 0,75 ltr (BB 04/2007). Hazy orange color, good white creamy head. Hayish, metallic aroma with notes of barnyard, cardboard and fruits. Medium-bodied. Some sweet fruityness is mixed with iron, earth, citrus and hay. Bitterness in the finish. BB 2007 (or 2006? not sure) may indicate this being vintage from 3-4 years ago? Corked bottle may have produced some earthy notes. Not the most balanced tripel.

Bottled (white cap). Hazy nutbrown colour, mediumsized creamy head. Aroma is yeast, fruits, eucalyptus caramel and some spices. Flavour is malty, alcoholic, creamy and parfumeish. Sticky palate in finish and aftertaste. Strong spiced aftertaste. This one is also pretty good, though, the eucalyptus and spices do interfere a bit.

Bottled (Red cap). Very murky dark brown colour, with big beigeish brown foamy head. Aroma of malts, fruits and some alcohol. Also a bit plum. Flavour is enormously plummy with some other fruits and alcohol. A bit roasted/smoked notes also. Wellbalanced, and quite easy to drink. Some yeast coming in also, as it gets a bit warmer. A very good beer, both for "easydrinking" as well as for an evening you just want to have one or two and chat away.

Bottled. Orange colour, huge white head. aroma of fruits, alcohol and malts. Flavour is dry fruits along with malts and yeast. Not really a beer that makes you write any longer poems, but still ok.

Bottle thanks to Degarth. You know its hard to find an imported beer that isn’t distributed in NY but Joe went out of his way to get me something I would never find (its greatly appreciated). 11.2 oz bottle a very dark ruby red, with some translucent edges, cannot see trough the beer. A very thin head that quickly ran off. Aroma is present, malty, some belgiany-sweetness. A bit of alcohol in the aroma. Taste is similar. Leaves a sweet malt aftertaste. Body is a bit thin and too watery for me. Oh, just poured out the whole bottle, lots of sediment. Color now is brown and muddy, all thick looking with the floaties. Lots of sediment left in the bottle as well. With the sediment the body is no longer light for me. The taste is a bit more concentrated, deeper malt complexity. Leaves a very sweet aftertaste. Nice stuff.

[Vintage sample - aged about 2 years, and just before expiry of the best before date] An orange beer with a lot of sediment floating around under a dense off-white head. The aroma is very sweet with strong fruity notes especially peaches comes to mind, but also a light tendency towards over ripe fruits and coriander. The flavor is also very sweet with powerful notes of peaches, over ripe fruits, prunes, wood, alcohol, and tobacco. The alcohol burns slightly on the tongue and a bit more in the throat. The tobacco note in the flavor turns me a bit away from this beer, I wonder if this is a result from my bottle being aged more than 2 years.

A hazy orange beer with a huge white head. The aroma has strong notes of citrus and dust, while the flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, spices, citrus, as well as some dust - which I believe is from the hops.
