(Bottle 33 cl) Rather unusual "Bruin" with it’s muddy brown appearance - but typical for Deca. Nice, dense head. Typical notes of roasted malt with a fine balance between it’s sweetness and bitterness. Nice dark ale that comes close to some of the dark trappists. 160599

(Bottle 25 cl) Strongly hazed beer, greyish brown - river water appearance - actually this looks pretty disgusting (as most Decas). Fruity nose, full very malty body with a strong hop-bite in the finish. Not a bad beer but certainly not the most refined either. 200299

(Bottle 33 cl) 7% ABV in my version. Hazy, amber coloured with a huge and lovely head. Some spicy, citric notes in a rather light body with a very pronounced, agressive hop-bite in the finish. 290798

(Bottle 33 cl) Again this muddy, pale brown (melted milk chocolate) appearance. Another extremely potent beer from De Drie Kruizen - apparently licensed off to Deca? Rather flat, some roasted, malty notes with hints of dried fruits. An initial sweetness is overpowered by a pronounced, harsh bitterness twisting this out of balance. 130198

(Bottle 33 cl) Greyish, murky brown - like the Schelde on a stormy day? Loads of impurities - rather disgusting appearance actually. Some burned notes, some chocolate, some malt - but everything overpowered by the hoppy finish. Somehow I expected more complexity for a strong beer like this. 030198

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark golden, very unclear - almost muddy. Lots of floating yeast in here. Nice, creamy head - although rather small. Typically spiced Tripel, with some sweet malt and a warming alcohol. Yeasty nose - dry, short, hoppy finish. 101197

(Bottle 25 cl) Steen and I found this in a dusty box at the stockroom, when we visited Deca last July. (Deca is a bit of a peculiar mix between a microbrewery and liquorstore) This is quite a few years old and is no longer produced. However, it’s quite lively in the glass, with a tall living head on top of an onrange-golden beer with sediments in the bottle. Smells a bit sour and unpleasant. The flavor however is primarily bitter on a quite light body. 250904

Hazy dark red-brown color, big creamy and lacey expresso head. Aroma is malty, metallic and spicey: cloves, not very strong. Flavor is quite similar to Vleteren Alt (which has also same 8% ABV). Dry coffee mouthfeel with late sweetness from plums. Woody notes. When yeast is poured to glass, it rounds dryness of mouthfeel to softer palate . Hides alcohol quite well, good balanced and even refreshing despite being bruin and having so much alcohol.
