About
Metalman Brewing was born in 2011 when two beer enthusiasts decided they’d had enough of the outlandishly limited selection of beer available in Ireland, and decided to do something about it.

They started by contract brewing at a small brewery in Tipperary while building a brewery in Waterford city with a 6.5HL brewhouse. Draught Metalman started popping up in all sorts of places, and various brewery upgrades followed. At the end of 2014, they installed the first canning line at an Irish microbrewery, and cans of Metalman Pale Ale hit the shelves in January 2015. A brewhouse upgrade to 24HL followed later that year, as did various seasonal and limited edition releases.

Making beer is bloody hard work, but dammit it’s a lot of fun!

Pine and grapefruit, and a little peel and pepper. Nice balance, and nice stuff, and I'm not even sure this is super fresh. Can.

From the can. Pours dark brown with a huge, foamy beige head that fairly quickly subsides. Aroma is dark chocolate with subtle chili pepper undertones. Taste is sweet up front, full of chocolate, more milk than dark, and finishes moderately spicy and mildly bitter. An up till then unseen tartness lingers on the tongue, mild but noticeable. Body is medium, carbonation is mild, both oily and watery at times. Pleasant.

330ml can at home. Pours a murky, hazy but bright yellow. Huge white head in this one, but it also dissipates quite quickly. Definitely getting the pineapple on the nose with more stone fruit than expected. Flavour is very moderate here, more of the same with the nose- pineapple, orange, some melon. Thin mouthfeel, bitter finish.
