Bottle. A lightly unclear, dark reddish brown beer topped by a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma has coffee and roasted malts, all quite weak, with a hint of licorice in the back. Some molasses. It’s full to medium bodied, soft on the carbonation and semi-sweet. Roasted malts and coffee too. Some bitterness towards the finish. Well, it’s a pretty drinkable one, but pretty boring too. Easy drinkable. 140228

Bottle. A lightly unclear dark brown beer with a small, dense, beige head. The aroma is roasted, with chocolate and coffee. Nice, but too one dimensional. It’s pretty dry on the palate, full-bodied and with a nice carbonation level. There’s a nice touch of citrus peel in the flavor, especially towards the end, with a nice bitterness too. Roasted malt and coffee too. Lasting finish. Well, there’s sure something nice going on here, but I’m not blown away. 140228

Bottle. An almost clear one, golden in color and with a small, dense, off-white head. The aroma has banana dominating, with some pale malts, clove hints and citrusy hops. It’s effervescent and full-bodied, with flavors of sweet malts, banana, some spices and a pleasant bitterness. Lots of cloves in the finish, with banana and a touch of yeast. Ok, it’s not bad in any way, but it feels pretty messy and seems to have an identity crisis. 140228
