Description
VAUX has been a beloved name in Sunderland for almost 200 years. From the earliest incarnation of 'C. Vaux & Sons' in 1837 right through to the 1990's, the brewery was an important part of city life in Sunderland until its closure in 1999.
In early 2019, we set about relaunching this iconic brand to make it a source of pride once more for the people of Sunderland. One year on, after a successful period of contract brewing with some of the best breweries in our area, we have now opened our own brewery in Monk Street, Sunderland.

Today's date is also the name of a stadium in Libya, 28th March Stadium, named after the day the British finally left Benghazi. This beer consumed on the anniversary has a good body but doesn't feel its strength. Smoothish towards milkshake styling but not quite has mild but very pleasing fruit and sugars.

I was assured this was their own special brew from Vaux by the proprietor, in fact from being suspicious of a possible website based non changing selection I found out I went to best pub in Sunderland for choice during this beer after talking to the barman. Hazy golden colour, feels quite sessionable despite its strength, which has a tropical fruit aroma and taste with some hoppiness attached.
Lakedown Pacific Sunrise
Carbonated golden ale, good head, crisp tropical fruit in both aroma and taste with a sweetness to proceedings.

Pronunciation problems again here, I couldn't distinguish whether this beer was £2.15 a half or £2.50 due to the local accent. To be fair to the barman he annunciated it clearer for me after asking to repeat. It was the lower amount. Hoppy in the main with some bitterness attached. Session stuff.

Can from Beer52. Pours a murky gold with small white top. Aroma of slightly overripe pineapple and mixed citrus with a light green hop note. Taste has a surprisingly fresh hop tropical juiciness with a herbal modest bitter finish with light green funk and pale malt. Light to medium bodied, slick. Very good. Brewery #1030
