Description
VAUX has been a beloved name in Sunderland for almost 200 years. From the earliest incarnation of 'C. Vaux & Sons' in 1837 right through to the 1990's, the brewery was an important part of city life in Sunderland until its closure in 1999.

In early 2019, we set about relaunching this iconic brand to make it a source of pride once more for the people of Sunderland. One year on, after a successful period of contract brewing with some of the best breweries in our area, we have now opened our own brewery in Monk Street, Sunderland.

440ml can bought at Wobbly Aleways in Newcastle. Shared with Finn on a TransPennine Express train from Newcastle to Manchester. Poured a pitch black body under a steady fawn-coloured head that left clingy lacing on the glass. Fine blended aromas of berry skins and roasted dark malts. Similar taste of chocolate malts mixed with berries, dry and just a little tartness to it. Prolonged ending, roasted malt and berries. Nice. (21.03.2024).

330ml can via Beer52: BB 30th September 2024. Shared with Andy during a family tasting at my house on 26th January 2024. Cloudy golden orange, decent white topping. Citrussy as the name suggests, I thought oranges were the dominant flavour.
