Description
VAUX has been a beloved name in Sunderland for almost 200 years. From the earliest incarnation of 'C. Vaux & Sons' in 1837 right through to the 1990's, the brewery was an important part of city life in Sunderland until its closure in 1999.

In early 2019, we set about relaunching this iconic brand to make it a source of pride once more for the people of Sunderland. One year on, after a successful period of contract brewing with some of the best breweries in our area, we have now opened our own brewery in Monk Street, Sunderland.

Sharing this beer yesterday with Raoul at the ex pibar, a really enjoyable west coast ipa, rather classical, brewed on the American way, rather dry, malty, decent bitterness, citrus, tropical note, lychee, refreshing.

Keg at Tapps Conwy. Hazy-opaque dark peach. Thin foamy white head almost instantly retreats to the rim. Aroma has sour fruit. Slightly pithy. Dank. A hint of the vinous. Flavourwise it's similar. Sour. Fruity. Slightly vinous. But all rather low key. Light-medium bodied. Slick. A tad pithy. Soft carbonation attempts some fizz. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Bland Sour.
