Description
Humber Doucy Brewing Co. is a family-run brewery based in Bacton in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Surrounded by the fields that provide the barley used for brewing, the location captures John and Alan’s love of Suffolk perfectly.

John and Alan, a father and son team, believe there is nothing better than the combination of Suffolk and beer. Humber Doucy Brewing Company combines the two beautifully.

Humber Doucy is all about Suffolk. John and Alan’s love of Suffolk is reflected in the inspiration for the beer’s names and the name of the brewery itself. Taken from a street in Ipswich, and reflecting the nature of Humber Doucy beers – meandering, relaxing and just a little bit shady.

Humber Doucy is all about beer. We are committed to using locally malted barley. Being located in one of the best barley-growing regions in the world, and surrounded by fields of the good stuff, why wouldn’t we?

Pro Panda thanks to Shig, 13/07/20. Almost clear orange to amber with a decent off white covering formed of bubbles. Nose is stewed fruits, caramel, bread pudding, light phenols. Taste comprises caramel, light citric peel, bread pudding, grass, melon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a low level of bitterness. Ok sipper but not a hoppy pale for me.

Many thanks to Grumbo. Fantastic smooth malty back. Easy to drink with a nice grainy aroma, dry caramel, hints of roast, not too much bitterness in the back. Nice Ale characteristics, fruity parts, very dry. Nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kingslayer on 08 Jul 2020 at 21:38 - Score: 7. Original review text: Many thanks to Graham. 24/8/2019. Cask at the Briarbank Beer Festival, Ipswich. Pours hazy golden amber with a small bubbly off-white head. Aroma of malt, fruit, citrus, biscuit and dank hops. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, soft carbonation. First I’ve had from this new brewery, work in progress. 2.8 (6362-11). 20/4/2021. Bottle from the brewery. Quite carbonated, but otherwise a big step up from the early cask I had. Earthy, malty, fruity, biscuit. Nice bittersweet balance. Good example of an English brewed Pale Ale.
