22 oz. bottle, courtesy of and split with (!) Glouglouburp (thanks Dany). Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of bourbon barrels upfront, some oxidation (? - it's not older than a year), and some bittersweet dark cocoa that is overwhelmed by the barrels. Flavour is quite wooden and bourbon oak heavy, a bit of oxidation again (no idea how this happened), almost no chocolate left, finishing on a sludgy coal-like finish. Quite oaky and boozy, with some burnt, charred notes leaving the lasting impression. Seems this is either a bad batch, bad bottle, or hugely overrated.

Bottle at home - 08/06/12 thanks to Sam. Dark chestnut brown approaching black in colour with a medium off-white head. Lots of roasted malts on the nose and a good pinch of coffee. Tastes follow from nose allied to a some nutiness, background earthy hop and a touch of smokiness. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Decent porter.

From the 8/2012 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy pale yellow color with a medium sized creamy yellow-white head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was Sweettart candies, grapefruit and chalk. the flavor was very bitter, dry chalky with notes of grapefruit, lemon and dish soap. Medium length bitter, dry and tart lemon finish. Medium body. Blah for style.

From the 8/2012 3R6P tasting +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very pale yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was dry and tart with notes of citrus and perfume. The flavor was dry and tart with vague citrus, band aid and a touch of bread. Medium length dry, tart and citric finish. Light body. Not good.

12 ounce bottle from Harris Teeter Crozet. Pours a hazy yellow color with a large foamy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of toasted malts, grassy hops, corn and apples. Almost skunky, oddly. The taste is tart malts, corn, grain grassy hops. Medium bodied and refreshing.

22 ounce bottle. Pours a mostly clear dark mahogany color with a medium brown head. A light nose of cocoa and roast, some wood and smoke. A nice mellow flavor with some light whiskey that grows as you get into it, some char, big vanilla, a bit of warmth despite the six percent. Pretty nice.

From the July 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy golden-amber color with a large foamy off white head that left good lacing. The aroma was tart lemon and a bit of chalk. The flavor was tart and chalky lemon and Pez candies. Medium length tart finish with notes of chalk and citrus. Medium body.
