Bottle thanks to the guys at the Full Pint. Pours pitch black with a tan head. Great aroma of bourbon, wood, chocolate and raisin. Very nice. Could possibly use some more wood and booze for my palate (I like the punishment!). Flavors of alcohol, decadent milk chocolate and nice barrel flavors. Creamy.
2011 Pappy Barrel release thanks to billschmeinke. Pours with a small tan head and a black body. Aromas are smokey, maple, rich, vanilla, leather, iodine, earth and fusel. Some rich oak notes. Flavors are sadly a bit thin and watery. Roast, caramel, light oak, munich malt and melanoidin richness. Light to medium bubbles, thin, dry and warming. 9/4/7/4/15

Bottle shared with others thanks to ucusty! Poured black with a wooden brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice combination of honey, cocoa, bourbon and roasted malt. Flavor began sweet with the honey and bourbon but became more bitter with strong cocoa and roasted malt in the finish. The flavor was nice but the beer was a bit thin.

A deep dark stout with a very thin off white head. A superb aroma of chocolate covered cherries and alcohol, muskey and complex. In mouth, a beautiful complex stout with nice restrained bitter chocolate, nice Brett notes, oak barrel, smooth and enticing. On tap at Great North Carolina Brewers Fest., August 28 2010.

A golden amber IPA with a thin off white head. A pleasant aroma of floral hops, honey, quite restrained. In mouth, a good malt base with nice c-hops, smooth and malty, no astringence, well made. On tap at Great North Carolina Brewers Fest., August 28 2010.

A deep dark stout with a super thick dark brown head. A nice herbaceous chocolate aroma, with light Brett funk, herbal hops notes. In mouth, a decadent sweet chocolate with liqueur qualities, real well balanced, light lingering coffee notes. Rich and balanced. On tap at Great North Carolina Brewers Fest., August 28 2010.

Nice beer, really big on the chocolate which was all over the nose, and also in the flavor but there complemented with a light roastiness. Malts are smooth and rounded, not too sweet, with actually a semi-dry chocolate finish.

Growler thanks to womencantsail. Pours with a black body and a small tan head. Aroma is chalky, dry, estery with some alcohol. Taste is barrel, some alcohol, vanilla and chocolate. A bit of wood tannins. Lively bubbles, medium bodied. Good.

Bottle shared by someone at the tasting (also received one thanks to pantap). Pours with a black body and a tan head. Aroma of vanilla, biscuit, chocolate, honey and oak. Light tart currant flavor up front, before turning earthy, chocolate, rich barrel notes. Lively carbonation for the style.
