750 ml bottle. 2018 vintage. About the age I love my barley wine’s. A deep amber / brown color. aroma shows me substantial bourbon with molasses, tobacco and pitted fruit. Flavor has the sticky pitted fruit, caramel, and sweet toffee throughout with a nice mellow lasting bourbon finish.

I’m always pleased to locate an unexpected Belgian ale I’ve not had before. DNR showed up at The Cellar yesterday, I’m sampling the 12 oz can tonight. The ABGB snifter gets the duty tonight, an unusual, dark gold-amber liquid with a smattering of off-white foam. The nose is as strong it should be, yellow fruit, some yeastiness and earth. I have a drink. Very decent, very representative of the style for a domestic brewer. Peach, malt, yeast, a toffee sweetness, cane syrup, hard candy and alfalfa. Well done, I will get more of this.

RB rate that didn't transfer: 6, 3, 6, 3, 11, 2.9, 375mL C&C bottle. No date but looks like its not more than a year old based on ratings. Highly disappointing beer. First, the tequila doesn't come through. Would never even guess its a BA beer. Second, the Belgian is flabby and old tasting. Light cardboard. Not very estry, which is good. But not much positive to say about it. , 1/1/2019 10:14:54 PM

I bought F5 a few weeks ago at the only craft beer store decently nearby, stamp says the 12 oz can was put up on 1/7/20. My Great Heights snifter will receive this one. The body is an opaque orange-yellow with an estimable pure white head, good lacing potential. I smell is an attractive pine and newly mown grass. A drink gives a strong dose of pine bark, grapefruit rind, crackers, all surrounded by a strong bitterness. Good for an everyday IPA, a nice rep of the old school style.

I spotted a 12.7 oz bottle of DNR tequila barrel-aged at a Spec’s in downtown Houston a couple of months ago. New to the brewer and I’ve, of course, never tried the beer, it’s time to change both of those. I have my Buffalo Bayou snifter out for this tasting and see an interesting amber-orange body finished with a thin but lasting stone colored head. The smell is apricot, bread and a boozy effect. And the taste? I find it quite good but I do appreciate Belgians in any case. Yellow fruit, some oakiness, yellow raisins and the tequila for sure. A substantial brew.

12 oz. can purchased at Total Wine in Denton, TX. Pours a mostly clear dark bronze color with a khaki head and good retention. Spotty lacing. Malty aroma. The flavor is a blend of German and American Oktoberfest styles. Clean and crisp start with a sweet (but not too sweet) malty finish. Very repeatable. Prost!

Bottle from AFH. Dark brown 1 finger off white head. Smell great. Smells like a delicious saison, French oak, grape, apple, honey, wheat. This is good. Sweet honeycomb, wheat body, white wine barrel, delicious. I was expecting much less.

12 oz. can purchased in Austin, TX. Pours an opaque dark brown color with a gigantic tan head and excellent retention. Good lacing. Light roasted aroma. Roasted malt and dry dark chocolate flavor. Thick enough body. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. The 6.0% ABV and 43 IBUs are well hidden. Very good, not great.

From a 12 oz. can. Pours a hazy copper with a big off white head. Aromas of pine. Flavors are bitter citrus. Classic IPA well done.
