Can shared by Nelson at Gents Bierfestival, cheers man! Lightly lacing, thick and very dense, creamy, pale yellowish beige head, very dark chestnut brown colour bordering on black. Aroma of very strong, almost overpowering vanilla (as in vanilla ice cream or vanilla extract), chestnut cream sauce, chocolate ’truffles’, hazelnut paste, some iron, raw spinach, haemoglobin. Sweet, very creamy onset, unmistakably on nitrogen like a can of Guinness with a widget in it; in contrast with this silkiness, mouthfeel is thin and feels undercarbonated, so I guess the nitrogen has already volatilized a bit during its long journey from Canada to Belgium. Nutty malt sweet body, bit chocolatey, with growing vanilla presence retronasally, eventually dominating the finish; tad metallic. Brief herbal hop bitter touch in the end. Straightforward and relatively simple, but I do love vanilla so this could hardly go wrong, I guess - just too bad for the thin, undercarbonated mouthfeel.

Waxed swivel-top bottle for Canada’s 150th birthday. Pours a hazy amber-red colour with a beige-pink head, decent stay and foamy lacing. Tarty raspberry nose with some sweet yeast. The taste is mild with raspberries and wheat that lingers. Alcohol is well-hidden. Oily-wet mouthfeel with just a tad of tartiness. A nice raspberry wheat ale for our birthday. Cheers !

Can. Amber. Has an earthy C hop nose with a fairly caramelly, toasty accent. On the palate it’s heavy caramel with moderate bitterness. Just stale hops all round. Weak IPA, more like a strong amber.

Can: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops notes with light floral undertones is quite pleasant. Taste is a refreshing mix of citrusy hops notes with some floral undertones and some light residual sugar notes with no bitterness easily noticeable. Body is light with good carbonation. Easy drinking IPA with just enough hops presence.

750ml thingjamajigger with a wax fold off top. Zero head, sweet soda pop ginger root beer aroma. Flavour is muddy caramel and forced ginger with a sweet cloying finish. This stuff just fails on all levels.

A golden blonde ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light esters, light cloves, banana esters, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light grassy resinous hops, light mineral notes, banana esters, pleasant. On tap at Arrow and Loon.

Hazy light golden-yellow colour with a white cap, average retention and some foamy lacing. Fresh grassy hop smell with citrus notes and nice yeast. The taste has the grassy notes at the start, but being a session IPA, the finish is quite quick. Again, the yeast is nicely balanced, adding some smooth sweetness with the wheat. This year round beer is more than welcomed. A decent session IPA.

Part of their 2017 Spring Mix pack. Cloudy golden-amber colour with an off-white head, which does not start too big, so not much retention, kind of fizzing away. Not much lacing as well. Sweet and smooth Belgian Ale yeast nose with the candy notes. Light spices reminding me a witbier, so almost coriander. Maybe peppery. The taste is hoppy with grassy notes over some orange-tasting malts. The blend is a little off though. Still, not bad overall, but remind me of a witbier with candied Belgian Ale yeast more than a Saison.

Part of their 2017 Brewpub pack. Pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a frothy warm cap, good retention and thick creamy lacing. Lots of tropical fruit aromas with some citrus and grass in the background. The taste is grassy with the hops, but not too bitter. The fruity malts balance this. Some nice dryness. Goes down nicely with the tropical characters. Very nice for the style.
