Got this one at the Ottawa brewpub in a 750ml brown bottle format. Pours a rich hazy golden-amber colour with a slight off-white creamy head that stays a long time and creates thick lacing all around. Mild spicy nose with Belgian yeast aromas that smooth out things with hints of bananas. Silky medium-thick mouthfeel that is kind of creamy. The taste is well-blended and mildly light with spices, pears, banana and nice cereal malts in the finish. Again, lots of Belgian yeast, so great beer, but seems more like a Belgian ale than a Bière de Garde from France.

A reddish clear brown rauch with a thin compact brown head. In aroma, a light peaty caramel malt with light smokiness, and light grassy notes. In mouth, a nice smooth sweet caramel malt with light peated notes, nutty and roasted, a bit tin, but good. On tap at Ottawa location, April 15 2012.

Tastes like coffee. There’s a creamy head. Decent lacing. A watery bitter leave with some tin to it. Pours mahogany. Not very exciting. On tap at The Rhino.

This tastes like strong alcohol and not much more. Really not that good. An empty taste with a touch of watery sugar. Not sure what the goal is here, but I am sure it’s not being hit. Bottle from the brewery store.

Bottle: Poured a medium amber color bock with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and not much lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with caramel notes. Taste is not overly complex with some caramelized malt notes with light touch of toffee. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation. Not bad but lacking taste or complexity.

Not sure if this was just because it was the first taster of the morning at the Mill St. brewery store, but it tastes and smells a little sour. The bitterness factor doesn’t come much into play here. An unexpected - and not very pleasant - experience.

Has a slight note of something appraoching skunk. id love to say it was an organic taste, but then id just be supporting the marketing behind another crappy tasting lager. bottle at the imperial pub

This wit poured a clear light yellow with a quickly disipating, bright white head. To the nose there are scents of weiners, spices, corn and light malt. First sip was highly carbonated with a slightly thin mouthfeel and flavours of spices, weiners and corn. Just like the scents. Finish is light bitter with corn and light hop flavours lingering.
