Description
De Halve Maan Brewing Company is a family brewery in the heart of Bruges, Belgium. The brewery was restarted and refined by Veronique Maes in 2005. With unique beer recipe on the work, the brewery was renamed as ‘Brugse Zot’. Brugse Zot beer became the only beer that is personally brewed in the town center of Bruges. The Brugse Zot and Straffe Hendrik beers are two of the brewery’s finest types of beers. Straffe Hendrik beer is filled with bitter ale while the Brugse Zot is rich in fruity flavor along with different types of malts and hoppy aromas.

On tap at In de Wildeman. Clear golden amber colour, creamy off white head. Aroma of sweet fruits, malts, some yeast. Reminded me a bit of Leffe Blond. Flavour is soft and sweet, fruity and malty, with a metallic flavour underneath. Light bittersweet finish. Creamy and soft mouthfeel. I actually hoped they would start brewing the regular Straffe Hendrik again (especially the Brune), this is a bit of a let down. OK, but no more than that.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours a yellow color with a foamy white head. Aroma is citrus and yeast. Flavor is alright, but there are too many floaties in the beer for my taste.

Huge & thick cream head over clear pale amber beer with a metallic shine; visually lively carbonated. Heavy malts nose with caramel & alcohol, leafy and a bit like stale beer would smell. Clean, but quite sweet caramel flavour. Faint citrus/orange, liqueurish tinted. Alcohol obvious, including -warming. Bit sticky MF, apparently very low attenuation. Certainly not a bad beer, but quite a bit too sweet to be really to my liking - certainly under the moniker "tripel". And ought a Western-Flemish "triple" not to be very dark, indeed?

Draught at Belgo, London
Blond color. The aroma is lightly fruity and well spicy (coriander). Dry mouthfeel, some malt, a lot of coriander and a strange bublegum aftertaste. Nothing special.

33 cl bottle from eaglefan538. a june 10 stamped on bottle. Pour is hazed golden yellow with a ton of sediment. Head is 2 inches tall, white, with crackling carbonation. Head falls quickly with very little lacing. Aroma of freshly cut straw and wheat. Really natural, soft and inviting. Some floral sweetness behind the wheat. All very rounded and integrated. Lovely nose. Taste is acidic wheat, citrus lemon and soft floral coriander. Nice mineral character throughout. Finish is a little dirty. Palate is medium full, mouth coating, and a little chunky. Overall, this was a great smelling beer, that had a nice enough taste. Thanks for sending this my way Brian.
