Description
The name Overflow Brewing Company stems from the word “flow”. The owners of the Brewery were inspired by the term and the many findings around the science of and secrets of being happy in life. Flow, or the state of being “in the zone” or in “the state of Flow” is something that “everyone” is looking for in life. The science community as a whole describe Flow as the mental state in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment. Everyone at Overflow Brewing Company are ultimately looking for that same fulfillment in life. Our Staff look forward to being challenged and using their skills; whether they are designing and brewing beer, or supporting one of the many large concerts we regularly host in our tasting room.

Can from the LCBO. Lightly hazy medium amber with a lingering off white head that leaves tight lace. Nose is grains and grass with some light citrus and melon. Light honey sweetness with a medium grass and tea bitterness. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation and a dry finish. 7+/4/7/3+/15-

Mango, tangerine and grapefruit are part of a rather complex olfactory featuring American hops on a malty base with biscuit aromas. The liquid is golden and clear with a good amount of bubbles. The foam is abundant, well-formed and quite tenacious. Taste is slightly fruity with a good effervescence and a strong bitterness as finish. Alcohol is present without being too aggressive. The fruitiness is much more discreet than in olfactory and the malty base is for my taste a little too discreet. The emphasis is mainly on the very high resinous bitterness that persists for long seconds. I do not have much to complain about this West Coast. It is very nice, well brewed and fairly balanced. It only lacks a small enhancement of the malted side. The small difference between excellent and very good. Second Overflow of the night. Can that pours a very lightly hazed golden colour with a tad amber hue. The head is frothy, a little creamy with good retention, slightly warm off-white and leaving some nice creamy waves on the glass. Hoppy nose of grass and citrus over cereal grain and mild caramel malts. The mouthfeel is slick, lightly oily with a good dryness in the finish. The flavours are bitter with grassiness and citrus peel. Quite a decent normal IPA.

Oh yes, I do like this light ale. Biscuit malt with Pilsner malt light spiciness. Yep, this is a taste I really can enjoy for this style of beer. Aromas of mild spicy notes over the cereal grains. Gets slightly hazy, pale yellow colour with a frothy white cap, average stay and a little lacing. Kind of a light Steam Whistle, but on the ale side of things. I like.

Slightly hazy golden-amber colour with a big frothy warm cap, good retention and beautiful creamy-foamy lacing. Very citrusy aromas of oranges, grapefruits with the hops, and fairly juicy overall. The bitterness kicks in the flavours, with grapefruit zest that lingers on the tongue. A nice juicy base balances things. The mouthfeel is dry enough, but still refreshing. Quite a nice North-East Pale Ale, for those who like the juiciness, but not the excessive bitterness of an IPA. Well done.

Enjoyed at the Hintonburg Public House on tap. Very dark brown colour with no highlights, a mocha coloured and feel head with good stay and thick lacing. Great fresh roasted malts scent with lots of coffee notes. The taste is much of the same with the roasted malt taking over the coffee. Hints of dark fruits lingers. The mouthfeel is crisp with a nice dryness that builds up gradually. A decent easy drinking dry porter and a good first experience with this local brewery.
