In 1999 the brewery was established in the ''Commanderie van St. Jan'' in Nijmegen. This 12th century monastery has since been our production location and also the place where beer has been drunk most for years. In Brouwerscafé De Hemel, the 12 taps are always filled with different brewes from Hemel. Beer production takes place in the cellars of the Commanderie.

Geprobeerd met collega's bij Drinkers Pub Eindhoven. Het is een troebel oranje bruin bier met een volle beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van mout en gist. De smaak is moutig, zacht zoet en kruidig.

300ml bottle. Cloudy, amber colour with huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, pale and caramel malty as well as yeasty fruity and minimally yeasty spicy aroma, hints of strawberry, frozen strawberry, a touch of watermelon, whiffs of black pepper. Taste is sweet-ish, slightly sugary, pale and caramel malty and yeasty fruity, hints of strawberry, frozen strawberry, a touch of melon, watermelon.
Watery texture, minimally dry palate, coarse, prickly to lively carbonation.
Rather simple, sweet, a tad overcarbonated - so-so.

pours a murky redish brown. Next to no head. Wow, the aroma is out of this world. It’s LOADED with ripe fruit, spice, caramel, candi sugar, and a touchof malt. The flavour is outstanding! Full bodied malty fruitiness, and a great bready cake like flavour, reminds me alot of ound cake. Loads of ripe fruit, and caramel. The 12% is nowhere to be found. Wow, this is a superb brew, i wish i could get this all the time. Outstanding winter warmer.

2012. Aroma of sweet dried fruits, caramel malt, candy sugar, raisins. Flavour is sweet with a light bittersweet finish. Nice sweet and syrupy Barley Wine.

From tap at De Drie Dorstige Herten, Utrecht. Aroma is sweet chocolate, dark malt, caramel, touch of roast, cocoa. Flavour is sweet with a little bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. On the sweet side, not your typical Stout, but pleasant enough.
