This has bitterness. Hoppy flavour and a little dark cream on the palate. Smells hoppy with a little alcohol. Some roast malt in the taste Malt has a little bit of a caramelized finish as well. Bottle

341mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of dry roasted malts, oats, and unsweetened dark cocoa. Flavour is less pleasant, with metallic-tinged dry roasted malt, oats and bittersweet cocoa. There is a bitter, metallic finish that lasts quite a while. Pretty simple and with too many flaws, but drinkable.

This beer has some serious character. Taste like I inhaled Banff through a straw. Aftertaste of spruce lasts a long time. Although itβs interesting itβs not something youβd want to drink by the gallon, as the label suggests.

Smells like gingerbread. Taste has some spiciness, clove. There isnβt much of a leave, though - taste falls pretty flat after the initial spice. Bottle

Celebrating my first time seeing Deep Purple live tonight with this one. Pours a golden colour with a big creamy white head that stays a long time and creates also creamy lacing. Mild Saaz hop aromas with light sweet malt, cereal notes and hints of alcohol. Medium-light bodied with a little stickiness. The floral hop is present in the taste, but not too bitter, with a touch of soap and a mild dry finish. Not a bad pilsner, but nothing out of the ordinary that I would want again.

Caramel, spicy, brown sugar, dash of cinnamon, some dried fruits and as it warms, leans towards a wood/leather flavor

Copper-burgundy body with a decent head. Aroma is definitely spruce, meat, smoke, beef jerky. Like Iβm in a potlach camp or something. Flavour is soft lager and caramel with a huge heap of spruce on the finish. Amazingly balanced and unique. This could have turned out as a disaster, but instead is an amazing and interesting beer. Heavy for sure, but great sipping.

Okay hoppy bouquet of an aroma on this one, decent head and okay gold body but not spectacular. Flavour is a very refreshing mix of hoppiness with a dry hoppy finish. A very good pils, in fact.

(500mL bottle from the LCBO) Served cool in a nonic pint. Very dark brown pour with 2cm of tan head, a little sediment seen in the bottle during the pour. Aromas of chocolate, quite sweet toasty malts, some mango/citrus hops. Palate initially chocolate/dark malts like a porter or stout but with a decent helping of citrus hops, towards the finish resiny pine bitterness kicks in with more toasted flavours and a little yeast earthiness but a core of sweet malt remains throughout. Mouthfeel is moderate, a little oily with fine carbonation, could be richer. From my experience a good shot at a tough style, like the porter and hops elements both but the integration is not always harmonious. Still a nice beer.
