This IPA poured a cloudy golden colour with a nice, big, off white, foamy style head. To the nose there are scents of pineapple, lemon and grapefruit citrus, cream and cooked veggies. First taste was very sharp with hopps, creamy mouthfeel and bitter as bitter gets. Flavours of spruce, citrus and pine sap make this ale a real mouth number. Finish is bitter as hell with a light tea flavour lasting after the hopps subside.

Bottle: Poured a bright clear copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt is enjoyable though not overly complex. Taste is really dominated by loads of caramel malt with not much else to report though that is kind of the point of the style. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not the greatest interpretation of the style but quite enjoyable nonetheless.

Quick seasonal at the LCBO in a tall brown bottle. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a big off-white head that stays a while and leaves nice thick wavy lace. Malty nose with a good grain smell that is slightly roasted, slightly caramelized. Hop is also felt with some darker bread. The taste is quite light, with again the cereal malt and not much sweetness from the caramel malt. Slight biscuit lingers in the aftertaste, but overall too mild.

Originally rated February 2006. Thanks to Plug for bringing this one back from Nova Scotia. Pours a dark amber colour with a tanned big fluffy head. Retention is great, so is lacing. Carbonation is very light. Good strong nose that is quite bitter, with notes of chocolat and coffee. Kind of watery mouthfeel with slight stickiness. The mouth is smoother than the aroma. Caramel and roasted malts with some good hoppiness, as Cottrell was throwing some of those quick rhymes. Also, mild nutty taste with some apple hints. A very interesting and nice amber ale, worth trying.
