Description
Owner Matt, developed the Boneface craft beer brand from a love of all things beer and sci-fi. All beers are cleverly crafted to incorporate Planet Hoptron (that’s the Planet of Hops, if you are wondering), and it’s inhabitants.
Bringing the goodness of Planet Hoptron to Upper Hutt was a no-brainer – Matt’s brewing background and passion for craft beer fit perfectly into the burgeoning Upper Hutt craft beer mecca. Whilst brewing the favourites, he’s always in a parallel universe, developing new and innovative craft beer flavours for you to try.

330ml can @ obscure lager tasting with Jeremy. Cracked to break up the questionably-brewed mediocrity of the lagers. Thanks for bringing this Jeremy. Standard hoppy grapefruit pale, quite flavoursome, some juicy moments, pine, confident bitterness. Solid IPA.

3rd August 2021. The world lager and UK cider tasting with Mat: Cheers Graham (Grumbo) for the samples. Mid session we had to take a break from the lagers and have a proper beer! I brought along a 330ml can of this to share. Mini-haze to the golden pour, white head. Decent enough IPA with a light fruity front and a dry finish. Broke up the proceedings nicely.

A can from Westhill Service Station. It pours lightly hazy bright yellow - gold with a decent fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, bright, fresh, clean, tangy, zingy, lemon - lime, tangelo, lemonade.and piney action. The taste is crisp, dry, pleasant bitterness, fresh pine, pine needles, light floral action, zesty, lemon - lime, pomelo, apricot, peach and a clean malt base with a dry finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Clean, piney and fruit. Well executed and moreish. Reminds me a bit of when BD punk IPA used to be good.

Pours hazy gold, fading head.Nose shows lemon, faint buttery notes, lime, citrus zest, faint bready malt.Flavours include more lemon, and citrus zest. Subtle after that, although there is more of the buttery note. The faintest acidity.
