From a 375ml can on 1/10/2020. Pours a slightly hazy medium golden with a smallish head. Has a modest tropical and citrus fruit nose. Reasonably assertive on the sip with a sharp, lingering citrus and grassy bitterness coming over the top of a medium tropical sweetness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Has a fair bit of character but doesn’t quite come together for me.

Can from Bad Shepherd pack. Purple red in colour. Berry nose. Puckery with blackberry aplenty. Very nicely done.

From a 375 ml can on 25/5/2020. Pours a clear pinky red with a smallish slightly pink head. The nose features slightly fermenting berries. The flavour features more berries (I assume boysenberry) - mildly sweet up front with medium tart/sour finish. It's reasonably well balanced and quite refreshing, but I can't find anything IPA-like about it. That it's 8.8% is surprising as it could pass for 4.8%. Thin bodied with slightly spritzy carbonation. Okay I guess, but not my type of thing.

A lonely aroma of butterscotch, toast, grapefruit and raisin, but the taste is less balanced. The traditional bitterness of the ESB clashes somewhat with the more AIPA notes, and the malt backbone is too weak.

Coffee, chocolate, toast and heaps of hops. A fantastic black IPA with a balanced palate and nice length.

Loads of red grapefruit, and yet it's not very tart. There are also notes of butterscotch and biscuit. It's beautifully balanced. An absolute beauty

From a 375ml can on 20/12/2019.Pours the darkest brown with a smallish head. Has a light nose of dark malt and resiny hops. Tastes of chocolate and caramel, with hints of coffee and smoke, finished off by some pretty big hops featuring lots of resin and pine. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. It's been a while since I've sunk a Black IPA, and I chosen a goody. Bold, flavoursome and well balanced. Aether is producing some seriously high quality gear.

From a 375ml can on 3/12/2019 (ABV listed as 8.5%, so we're truly in double NEIPA territory here). Pours a hazy golden with a small head. The aroma features strong citrus notes with some mango and passion fruit. Tatse wise it's a juice bomb - masses of blood orange and passion fruit dominate. It's medium sweet, with a fairly pronounced spicy peel bitterness which lingers in the mouth. The mouthfeel is slick with moderate carbonation. This is pretty intense and quite flavoursome. Could perhaps be a bit better balanced, but very enjoyable none the less.

From a 375ml can on 2/12/2019. Pours a clear deep golden with a medium head. The nose features sharp, fresh citrus, with a bit of mint in the mix. Taste wise, citrus dominates again with orange and lemon, but there's a dash of passion fruit in there as well. The hope are pretty big with lots of pine and resin. Medium bodies with average carbonation. This is pretty impressive - bold, distinctive and very tasty. Nice stuff.

From a 375ml can on 21/10/2019. Pours a deep brown near black. Has a powerful and lovely peanutty nose. On the sip it has oodles of milk chocolate and caramel, masses of peanut butter followed by a mild, ever so slightly tart bitterness which fits in beautifully. The mouthfeel is slick, the carbonation softish. Damn this is lovely stuff - desserty yet balanced, and never cloying. At least equal to, and possibly better than, Belching Beaver's peanut butter stout, which is my current peanut butter benchmark. Well done Aether!
