Description
Early in the 21st century, a vision was born. A dream to unite the land of brews, bring harmony to all who pledged their strength… and make some damn good beer. They who had the vision started the journey and thus began the story… nay… the legend of Bombastic Brewing.
Bombastic Brewing began in 2016. Inspired by the scale of Sierra Nevada, the “gypsy” model of Mikkeller, the business model of early Sam Adams, and the opportunity to make a positive impact in the world through craft beer, Russell Mann sold his retail beer business and set out to create an interesting craft brewery, built in a different model: Partner Brewing.
He took on two co-founders, and being thwarted from Partner Brewing by Johnny Law, Bombastic pivoted and started brewing on a 30, then 50 gallon system in a garage-style facility by the airport. Bombastic would roll open the big garage doors every Saturday to welcome the brave craft beer enthusiasts who showed up and had a great time, buying out every release.

Waxed bomber from the Benefactor release. Aroma is grapes, caramel, nutty, fudgy, vanilla, raisin. Pours muddy brown with a thin collapsing beige head. Taste is lightly sweet and moderately tart, finishing with a faint drying bitterness. Alcohol is hidden well--doesn't taste anywhere near 16%. This is damn good.

Bomber from the Benefactor release. Aroma is fudgy, coconut, cinnamon, licorice, chocolate, cashew brittle, raisin. Pours inky black with a thin collapsing beige head. Taste is highly sweet with a bit of acidity; flavors like the aroma. Tastes like a liquid oatmeal raisin cookie with a touch of coconut. Mouthfeel is oily, carbonation is just on the underside of average. Delicious, but pretty rich--not sure if I can finish a bomber by myself.

Bomber from the Benefactor release. Aroma is nutty and caramelly like cashew brittle, earthy, coffee. Pours hazy deep dark amber with a thin beige head. Taste is sweet and savory with some light lingering bitterness. Carbonation is somewhat subdued, mouthfeel a bit thin. Overall, it's a really great coffee barleywine.

Bottle thanks to Toby. Pours a almost pitch black hue with a small to medium beige head. A big vanilla and coffee nose. The flavor is more huge vanilla, husky, light chocolates, some toffee. Very sweet. Solid.

Bomber from the Benefactor release. Aroma is coconut, caramelly chewy fudge, some wood. Pours black with no head; has a thin collar of bone-white foam. Sweet with flavors of coffee, chocolate, caramel, nuts. A bit thin and undercarbonated for my tastes. It is a really tasty beer that would be even so much better with some more carbonation.

Bomber from the Bombastic Benefactors release. Aroma starts out explosively boozy before dying down after a minute or two, revealing notes of cinnamon, cocoa, wet stone, chili pepper. Taste is mildly sweet, finishing with a somewhat dry bitterness and a seemingly mild chili pepper heat that builds a little bit as you drink along. Like a mildly spicy Cinnabon. Really tasty.

Bottle from brewery. Opens without a pop or hiss, pours out dark brown, some bubbles from the pour, tiniest of beige ring. Aroma is French toast and cinnamon. Taste is more of the vanilla and cinnamon, a bit more prominent than in the aroma. Mildly sweet. Some savory notes linger. Oily body.

Draft at brewery. Messy pour, looks like chocolate milk. Aroma is also confusing, too much going on. Taste brings all of the elements together, pastry style,, sweet and savory. Not bad, but looks a mess.
