draft at Solona - Smells intensely of hops (well duh) with pine and citrus notes. It has a lingering medium head with excellent lacing. The flavor is of course very hoppy with the malt not quite keeping up, balance wise. It’s close though and the full body with a lingering bitterness of really good hops makes up for it. Well done.

tap at Solona - It looks alright, but I thought it smelled like almost nothing. There was just a little malt. I didn’t really notice the rye. The beer was moderately bitter with well balanced flavor, medium bodied, and pretty easy to drink. It didn’t do much for me though.

tap at Solona - This beer has a light, sweet aroma. The flavor is moderately sweet with some interesting fruity notes. The creamy body is great, but the finish had a somewhat off bitterness to me for some reason. Nevertheless, it’s a refreshing beer that’s worth trying.

tap at Solona - This beer has a good, mild hop aroma with a little malt. It’s lightly carbonated and has a slightly too thin body. The easy going hops comes through nicely in the flavor with a lingering, dry finish. Did I drink the same beer as other reviewers? They said it was the Baja. I thought it tasted kind of like an ESB and was actually pretty good. And I’ve never rated a pale lager this high...

tap at Solana Beach - Pours clear yellow with a very light malt aroma. The flavor is also very light. I can hardly detect any hops and the malts are mild. It’s smooth and refreshing with a mild hops finish, but far too bland overall.

kp’s Fest of 26. While I am still undecided about Lambics in general, I must say that more and more often, I find one of these Flemish sours to be something I enjoy. Le Woody is quite tasty. Clear brown with loads of ruby highlights, it throws up a long lasting, thin head of tan. Sour cherry must aroma. This starts sweet and ends with a big sour cherry finish. Tart and a bit dry. Very nice.

A hazy orange-brown beer with a yellow head. The first I notice about the aroma is a slight acidity, but beoynd that there is notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is acidic malty with notes of grapefruit, and with a dry woody end. I find it more like a Flemish sour than a Saison.

(Handbottled from the brewpub 33 cl) Pours a hazy, reddish brown with a creamy, beige head. Lightly vinous, tart aroma with a whiff of caramel. Medium-bodied with an almost vinous tartness. No real bitterness. Thanks to madsberg for sharing. 090806

Thanks to Foolish Mortal sending this one in an early trade. Shared at RBSG 2006. Hazy brown with a tan head that laces easily. Aroma is malty and alcoholic. Starts with some sweet caramel with an acidic tang that moves into a dry finish.

Another winner from Pizza Port. Murky orange-brown body, medium tan head. Rich toffee aroma with layered breads and caramels. Touches of red wine add a vinous character. Flavor of toasted breads, spice, and alcohol, with lesser contribution by dark fruits (including raisin and prune). Medium-bodied, rich and complex. Thanks goes to Walt.
