Description
Font Salem is a Spanish company that markets its products both in Spain and in neighboring Portugal. Their strength is making beer, soft drinks and water for third parties. Their industry experience is over 25 years, as they have earned the trust of the major companies they work with (Mercadona, El Corte Inglés, Lidl, Eroski etc.). Grupo Damm acquired the company in several steps since 1999.

The company has three plants, two in Valencia and one in Portugal. The one in El Puig de Santa María, in Valencia, is dedicated to brewing beer, the second, in Salem, Valencia, makes soft drinks. The Santarém factory in Portugal produces both beer and soft drinks.

Acquired in 2023 by COCEDA (Damm)

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Clear golden, brief head. Fruity and dusty, sweet and cardboardy with some burnt rubber. No bitterness. A rather foul tasting beverage vaguely reminiscent of beer.

Sample at the Eurostash II tasting on 12/12/09: Canned version. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Mild hops and malt aromas. Light body with grainy malt and mild hops flavors. The finish is short with a bready finish. Completely forgettable overall, although not terrible as I would have expected from a grocery store generic beer.

Bottled (thanks Saku & Aija). Golden colour with some particles floating around, small white head. Aroma is sweet honeyish malty notes along with some maize and grainy notes. Flavour is quite much the same. Cheapo bulk lager.

Can. A light golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet matly with a light skunk character too. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of straw, leading to a lightly bitter finish. The body is thin. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Canned. Pale golden, no head. Aroma (or rather stench) of stale very old butter. Insipid wish washy body and a strongly off putting flavour of butyric acid that sticks in my mouth even the day after.

can. 33cl. supermarket in gran canaria. pours golden with a white head. aroma is a bit flowery, bitterhops. flavor is slight metallic, flowery, perfumy. bad tasting beer. overall too many distractions from a baseline supermarket macro to even bother enjoying it. low-end-spanish generic macro beer. Be warned.

can. bought in SPAR, playla del ingles, gran canaria. usually available in the larger spar supermarkets, not in the smaller ones. yellow, small white head. aroma instead of corn, cerereal as expected, aroma is dominated by eggs. not an improvement, but at least different. flavor is quite mild and wek, but at least it is not tasting bad. no eggs in the flavor. carbonated water with a little bitterhops to spice it up
