Description
RYGR Brygghus is a microbrewery in Kverneland Næringspark on Jæren. The brewery was established in 2017, and came on the market in 2018. RYGR is owned by the employees and Grans Brewery. The brewery is named after the Smokers, who were the first grain growers in southwestern Norway in the Viking Age. In 2020, RYGR has become one of the largest microbreweries in the country, after reaching a national agreement with REMA 1000 supermarkets. In addition, the products are distributed to Vinmonopolet and bars and restaurants.

The brewery has been a driving force for the use of local raw materials in production, and to a large extent uses malt from the same municipality from Jæren Korn & Malt and oatmeal from Stangeland Mølle. In 2020, other fermented raw material producers were also incorporated into production.

Beer in 50 cl cans are produced in Sandefjord by Grans bryggeri.

Can. Sweet, warming, oaked. Toffee, dark chocolate, coffee hints. Brown sugar. Hints of licorice. A bit on the sweet side, but nice. 747414 260822

Can. Blueberry driven with little else going on. Some perfumed hints, alcohol. Something edgy in addition to the blueberry. Not a classic. 44346 260822

Can. Tropical fruityness, mango, and a little salty touch. Quite chewy. Might work better as a drink mix. 54549 260822

Can. Gentle, berry-ish, raspberry, blackberry, with a good sourness. A bit too straight forward, but at least it's refreshing and flawless. 646414 260822

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger, on several occasions (I was not aware that I had not rated it). Golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of pilsener malts and moderate herbal (probably German) hops. Flavour with the same elements, appears fairly well balanced, but not particularly exciting.

Can from supermarket in Sande. Hazy light golden. A lot of citrus up front with grapefruit and yuzu, sweet wheat, a bit yeasty. There's also some weird creamy stuff going on here, like soy cream or something. Medium sweet, light bitter. Under medium bodied. A bit weird overall.
