Description
RYGR Brygghus is a microbrewery in Kverneland Næringspark on Jæren. The brewery was established in 2017, and came on the market in 2018. RYGR is owned by the employees and Grans Brewery. The brewery is named after the Smokers, who were the first grain growers in southwestern Norway in the Viking Age. In 2020, RYGR has become one of the largest microbreweries in the country, after reaching a national agreement with REMA 1000 supermarkets. In addition, the products are distributed to Vinmonopolet and bars and restaurants.
The brewery has been a driving force for the use of local raw materials in production, and to a large extent uses malt from the same municipality from Jæren Korn & Malt and oatmeal from Stangeland Mølle. In 2020, other fermented raw material producers were also incorporated into production.
Beer in 50 cl cans are produced in Sandefjord by Grans bryggeri.

Can, at Håndverkeren. Smooth, vinous, lightly warming. Roasted malts, coffee, toffee and chocolate. Hints of dark dried fruit and licorice. Delicious and smooth. 848415 260314

Can. Sourish, with mango and a touch of kettle soured beer. Some lime hints. Not really my kind of beer, a bit strange. 546411 260314

Pours a cloudy yellow/orange with a white head. Fruity aroma, and a taste of citrus, especially orange and lemon zest, malts and pine. Good flavour, quite sweet, but very intense and concentrated. Good bitterness and excellent mouthfeel with gentle carbonation.

Can. A pleasant licorice touch to mellow out the raspberry. Not particularly sour this one, more on the sweet side. Not really my kind of beer, but it tastes nice anyway. 646413 260313

Can. A pretty straight forward pale beer, with a distinct fruity touch. Nice bitterness. Gentle maltyness, hints of bread and straw, with a presumably yeasty fruityness and some hoppy citrusy fruityness. Refreshing. 646413 260313

330 ml can, as Rygr Utgard Grapefrukt IPA, from Rema 1000, Tau. ABV is 4.7%. Hazy yellow colour, just a very thin and shortlived white head. Unclean aroma where grapefruit dominates. Thin mouthfeel. Flavour of grapefruit and other citrus fruits. Moderate bitterness.

330 ml can, as Rygr Sure Peter 4 Plommesorter fra Hardanger Fruktig Surøl, from Rema 1000, Tau. ABV is 4.7%. Murky orange colour, no head. Aroma of plums, some lactic acid. Very moderate carbonation. Moderately sour flavour of plums and lactic acid, some lactose sweetness. I like to eat the 4 plum varieties that are added to this brew, but that does not necessarily mean that I want them in my beer. Still, an occasional can of this plum beer won't hurt anyone.
