Bottle. Very dark brown with small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, little bread and a little liquorice. Flavour is roasted malt, meidum sweet, chocolate, caramel, little bread, little bitter and a little liquorice.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 13C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 36598414C1 (BBF 08.2019). AROMA: medium-low blend of corn/rice and roasted malt. slight coffee notes. APPEARANCE: dark amber and clear. medium light brown head with good retention. TASTE: initial faint diacetyl, followed by low corn/rice, and low malt with a slight roastiness. medium-low bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a bad attempt at a porter that looks like a sweeter schwarzbier.

330ml bottle @ Café do Forte whilst admiring Belém Tower in the January sun. Pours dark, voluptuous pale tan head. Aroma is nutty, light grain. Thin-bodied, watery with very light nutty malt, thin espresso roast. Passable schwarzbier.

500ml can from the local Pingo Doce, Lapa, Lisbon. Pours clear pale gold, constant sparkle. Aroma is sugary apple laces, continuing to taste. Seems all commercial, artificially-flavoured pop marketed as 'cider' in Portugal seems to follow this taste profile. Overly sweet, overly sugary. Nothing like the Dutch version, which is also a bag of shite. Awful stuff.
