From Van Steenberge: Raisinny aroma with mango and pepper. Sweet, yeasty flavor with raisin and pepper. A bit too alcoholic, but enough bite to make it worthwile. 7 4 6 3 13 = 3.3 From Van Steenberge, best until 2/07, tasted in august 2008: Bottle. Orange brown color, cloudy. Butter and toffee in the aroma. Cream sherry flavor, slightly alcoholic, with butter, toffee and mango. Delicious, aging does this beer well. From Koningshoeven: Bottle. Dark amber color. Cake dough, flowers and some dried fruit in the aroma. Sweet and alcoholic flavor with dried fruit and some perfumed bitterness. Strong and powerful with a reasonable balance.

Tap, café De Engel Oldenzaal. Blonde pilsener color. Slight frothy head that lasts. The aroma is largely blown away by the wind on the terrace (some malt and citrus) but the flavor is smooth, citric and just a bit hoppy. Peach apple and a hint of cherry. Thin to medium bodied, fairly alcoholic. A pretty well balanced beer that looks a bit like a Duvel, but is fruitier and less assertive. Re-rate after almost two months on tap. Some yoghurt. Intense pineapple fruit. Fine Saaz hops. Becoming honeyish.

Brewed at Van Steenberge. Bottle. Hoppy with just a bit of lemon. Sweetish, hoppy, peppery flavor with just a hint of strawberry. The alcohol is prominent. Not a bad tripel, but certainly not perfect. 8 3 6 4 13 = 3.4 Brewed at Koningshoeven: Bottle. Soft aroma of onions with a hint of citrus. Flowery hopbitter, slightly perfumed, rather alcoholic flavor with some citrus. Decent.

Van Steenberge version: Tap, Café Morshuis Albergen. Deep dark brown color, creamy head. Hint of milky sourness. Mustard. Some hops, a toasty bitterness and apple. Long slightly metallic bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad at all. Bottle: Malty, slightly roasted aroma. Sweetish, toasty flavor with hints of licorice, pear and pepper. A good, but a bit typical bock. It tastes more like a dubbel. (6 4 7 2 13 = 3.2) Koningshoeven version: tap, Café De Engel Oldenzaal. Roasted malt in the malty sweet flavor. Raisin and caramel. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. medium bodied. tasty and well made. Above rating is for the Koningshoeven version. Koningshoeven version, bottle. Dark brown color. Licorice, pineapple and a bit of roast in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with roast, licorice and laurel. Somewhat sugary and sticky mouthfeel. Tasty, maybe a bit alcoholic beer.

Brewed by Van Steenberge. Huge frothy head. Flowery, citric hoparoma. Hoppy, oily, citric, flowery flavor. Very long and strong hopbitter aftertaste. But the hops don’t totally blow away the malt character. Very well balanced and friendly in spite of the huge hopgift. 8 4 8 5 16 = 4.1 Brewed by Koningshoeven. Pale blonde, big frothy head. Citric, slightly soapy aroma. Hoppy oily citric flavor, slightly creamy. Long citric oily hopbitter aftertaste.

A rather light tasting quad. But still big in flavour, lighter in color but more drinkable. online belgian beer factory.

A nicely to style saison. Like damn near the style definition. It’s a bit bitter for me, well, maybe not, but the hop combo i think is off for my palate. But otherwise it is good. online belgian beer factory
