Can from radimd, many thanks man. Murky golden color with medium white head. Aroma of bread, malt, grassy hops. Taste, malt, bready notes, grassy hops, light lemon. Solid Cream ale.

A 2020 edition of Beez Nutz in a bomber bought at the brewery by my son and brought back to try. The wax dip is attractive but a pain to remove. I have my, ahem, Buffalo Bayou snifter to drink out of. The liquid is a quite dark mahogany brown topped with a light skim of tan foam. The smell is nutty with chocolate and sorghum. The taste is okay but not too exciting. Hazelnuts, yes I get that, milk chocolate , wheat bread and a little char. Not as sweet as expected but there is a slight bitterness at the end.

There is an appreciation for Buffalo Bayou from this perspective. A wide variety and styles of beers and a nice brewery to visit, all in H-Town. My ratings, a wide range too, some good, some not so hot. But always worth a try. I located More Cowbell a few weeks ago at a Total Wine in Ft. Worth. A tall boy can, opened and going into, surprise surprise, my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass. A semi-hazy, dark yellow evolving into gold liquid with a proper top of an strongly white head. I like the scent, old school hoppiness with tropical notes. I have the drink, yes, this is good. Pineapple, pine needles, some fruit sweetness, a slick sensation that leads to a moderate bitterness. I really do not get any 120 ibus on the finish but maybe that is me. Nice in any case. Well done, mi Tejas amigos.

Another Buffalo Bayou brew brought from Houston by my son for us to try. Using two other Texas brewery snifters for the pour, I open the 22 oz bomber. Whoa, take it easy on the pour, just saying. I see a opaque, dusty yellow body topped with an explosive head of nearly pure white foam. Smells of yellow fruit and meadow. The taste is of a tripel, as indicated on the label, with a bit of sourness. Nectarine, apricot, field, turpentine and a touch of yellow raisin. Not quite as anticipated but let us appreciate it as presented. Decent.

The irreplaceable son brought a bomber of Red Velvet home to me to try with the family. Buffalo Bayou has a fine brewery to visit and the beers are mostly good too, let us determine if that continues with this one. The nose is decent, chocolate with just a bit of cherry. I take a drink, all right but underwhelming IMHO. Milk chocolate, berries, straw and what else. Some sweetness but not hitting it mostly for me after some serious anticipation.

On tap at Big Texas Beer Fest. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with medium white head. The aroma is wheat, orange zest, vanilla. Medium body, citrus, light vanilla, wheat, good.

I have this 22 oz bottle brought to me by my son from Houston. I’ve been to their brewery, my snifter is from that visit. Good entry, a nice cocoa brown with a moderate head of mocha foam. Great scent too, chocolate, strawberries and field. And the taste, only better. Bakers chocolate, pecans, bark and a hop-heaviness. A little sweet and strongly bitter. Well done.

Rarely a disappointment from Buffalo Bayou. I have Bananas Foster this time, a gift from my son that he got at a Total Wine in Houston. We have snifters out for this tasting on an unseasonably hot, early summer evening. Jet black in color completed by a persistent tawny brown head. Definitely a banana scent to it. But I’m here to drink. Lighter in taste with banana than I anticipated. Malt, grain and a bit of chocolate. Hardly any sweetness for an expected dessert wine. Just okay.

Bottle. A- Smoke, fresh cut grass, mild sugar cookie. A- Dark mahogany color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Smoke, umami, grassy, slightly bready. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- After having Buffalo Bayou's Morning Wood I was not impressed so I went in with low expectations on this one. I was way off. This was outstanding. Far from a scotch ale in my opinion. In fact, we tried to guess and guess what style it might be. It felt style-less honestly. Lots of smoke and a fresh cut lawn aspect. A bit of malty sugar cookie lingers in the back. Nice stuff. Wish I could've had more to contemplate.

Bottle. A- Iron, roasty, cocoa, mild spice, nutmeg. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Bitter, cinnamon, roasty, dry cocoa. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, bitter finish. O- The reviews made this look promising and I do like this Mexican-ish Hot Chocolate type of stout if you will. No chilies here but again, promising. Very let down. Almost aggressively bitter and pretty dry and roasty without much flavor. Get the cinnamon, but this was borderline not worth even finishing.
