Bottle from Maruhn, Darmstad; 11.5% ABV, year 2012
Dark mahogany color with good head. I just had a Doppelbock that didn’t taste like one, and this Eisbock just tastes like a very good Doppelbock: malt, caramel, sweetness, light oxidization, warm alcohol; full bodied.
Very good.

Dark brown color with creamy beige head. The aroma of caramel and malt is quite fruity and mellow, with vanilla oak. Sweet flavor, malt, caramel, with vanilla oak, but also a light vinous touch, lightly sour; correct bitterness; minimal tannins in the end.
Great beer.

Aroma is sweetish with malt, nuts and some vanilla notes. Flavour has vanilla, some non-disturbing alcohol, malty notes and some licorice. Nice, almost too boozy though.

Aroma is odd and stale with berries and some red wine notes. Feels a bit like oud bruin. Flavour has red wine and sour berry notes. Also some woody notes. Finishes sweet and smooth. Quite nothing to do with English Strong but something in common with Oud Bruin. Could be a British barley wine too.
