[At Københavnske Øldage 2005] An orange beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is slighlty smoked and slightly malty. While the flavor is sweet malty with clear smoked notes and a dry end, but the body is thin. I’d like more smoke.

Heavy strong wooden and chocolaty malt aroma, buttery notes. Dark red colouring, head dies quickly. Fruity (strawberry, oranges, mango) note, chocolate pralines, slippery sweetness - dissipates fast on the palate. Solid body, round oily mouthfeel.

Bottle, 2.4%. Smoky aroma. Black colour, small brown head. The flavour is also smoky, has a little barley bitterness. Tar flavour with some smoke. The mouthfeel is a little thin, but that is to be expected from the ABV.

As Refsvindinge Cotton Ale: Dark brown colour. Light brown, creamy, quite stable head. Unpleasant, bready, crop aroma. Mild, malty flavour. Low carbonation. 4 3 6 4 14

Dark brown colour. Steady, light brown head. Sweet, toasty smell. Nice body. Sweet, malty, roasted taste, with slightly bitter aftertaste. Slightly less sweet than Vestfyen ale, but I probably couldnt tell the difference in a blind tasting.

Orange-foxy colour; yellow-orange head. Aggressive vegetable (cabbage?) nose, nearly caustic. Orange too, mussels vegetables, lime; Again rather aggressive, slightly sourish taste, citrussy. Sweet malts and toffee underneath. Fruity notes as litchee (non-sweet), pommegranate, lime and of course oranges. Alcohol probably lowers the MF impression, but the indeniable slickness tells about its potency - as does the throatwarming. Its finish and balance saves it, but one has to dive in deep before savouring. Strange Bock.

Huge yellow-brown, creamy head, collapsing, slightly irregular; fully black beer. Pure chocolate nose, like opening a package of good chocolate. Moccha too. I seem to detect faraway hops too, and leaves. Bitter-sweet chocolate taste, bit of meat gravy, even with a slightly salty touch in the finish. Moccha flavour. Rather well bodied. Good stout, unfortunately ending a bit "fade". And I’m M.C.P. enough to like the label.

Fully clear copper; thick, yellow-amber head, like whipped cream. Very ’beery’ nose: malts + hops (English like) at the same time. Soft, mild sweet caramely taste, little pinch of ambrée malt. Slick, but empty feel. No new taste, main taste fades out slowly. OK ale, no doubt. I just wonder what they meant to achieve. Sweet caramel or candi-syrup nose, wood fruits as blueberry. Bitterish main taste, bit ash-like in character, supported by malty sweetness. Again a faint fruity taste as from blueberries. Hops with vegetable flavours. Fruity-sweet finish. Medium bodied. Malt sugars fill in. No alcohol traceable. Another quite remarkable ale from this brewery. They seem to specialise in these old styles, and make a good job of it. Too sweet for my habitual taste, but my admiration all the same.
