Alter Ego Brewing Co is a 2.5bbl brewery based in Heanor, Derbyshire right next door to the beautiful Shipley Park.

We are guilty of brewing beers that we enjoy to drink, but do not fear as this covers a wide range of styles right through from cask beers to more daring styles in can.

You can find our beer in local pubs, nationwide bottle shops or from our online shop for local delivery or collection from our micropub ,The Tip Inn. If you want your local bottle shop to stock our beer point them to our website :)

Can courtesy of Dad, cheers Dad! Had this at Scott and Mandy's, Dumbleton, Worcs', Friday 8th October 2021, listening to Autechre. Pours amber with a white head. In the mouth this is sweet, perhaps too much residual sweetness here, caramel, syrupy and sometimes dried fruit but all a little bit toned down and shy. I wasn't a big fan and didn't finish it, nothing wrong with it, just not really floating my boat, on the plus side despite the abv it was very easy drinking and certainly displayed the usual barley wine characteristics but depth of flavour just wasn't there for me.

Can courtesy of Dad, cheers Dad! Had this at Scott and Mandy's, Dumbleton, Worcs', Friday 8th October 2021. Pours warm orange/gold colour with a white head. Nice bitterness, quite thick in the mouth, warming, fruity, hoppiness shows, a little streaky edge, a little soapy edge.

Cask at Creaky Floorboard, Derby. Pours lemon yellow with no discernable head. Aroma is not pronounced, but is of grape juice. In the mouth the texture is creamy with floral flavours to the fore – elderflower and grape. However, the further into the glass you get, the hoppier it becomes. All leading to a dry finish. A session IPA? Not hoppy enough in my opinion.
