Alter Ego Brewing Co is a 2.5bbl brewery based in Heanor, Derbyshire right next door to the beautiful Shipley Park.
We are guilty of brewing beers that we enjoy to drink, but do not fear as this covers a wide range of styles right through from cask beers to more daring styles in can.
You can find our beer in local pubs, nationwide bottle shops or from our online shop for local delivery or collection from our micropub ,The Tip Inn. If you want your local bottle shop to stock our beer point them to our website :)

Cask at Smithfield, Derby Pours a pale straw with a small white head. Lemon and hops in the nose, but not overpowering. Lightly carbonated and a bit watery. Mainly general fruitiness in the mouth, this covering the lemon which is in turn covering the hops. Finish is dry and bitter. Not bad, but a bit nondescript.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby Pours completely black with a small tan head. Aroma is vaguely butty, but in the mouth fruits predominate. Blackberries to the fore, but also plums and a hint of vanilla. Finish is fruity. Nice, but not wildly exciting.

Third, gravicask, at the 22nd Oxford Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Dark amber body, filmy layer, dotted spots. Moderate aromas of stewed fruits. Mixed taste profile of dried fruits, caramel and a backdrop of leafy hops towards a bittersweet ending. Satisfying. (25.10.2019).

ABV: 4.8%. Clear dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, roasted - chocolate, oat, dark malt, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, roasted, roasted - chocolate, oat, brown sugar, dark malt, sweet dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20191009]

Tried at the Newark Beer Festival. Deep mahogany brown colour with a tan head. Aroma roasted malty and raspberry. Slightly tart from the raspberry. Full body.
