Description
Alter Ego Brewing Co is a 2.5bbl brewery based in Heanor, Derbyshire right next door to the beautiful Shipley Park.
We are guilty of brewing beers that we enjoy to drink, but do not fear as this covers a wide range of styles right through from cask beers to more daring styles in can.
You can find our beer in local pubs, nationwide bottle shops or from our online shop for local delivery or collection from our micropub ,The Tip Inn. If you want your local bottle shop to stock our beer point them to our website :)

Cask at The Wellington, Birmingham, late August. Clear gold, small white head. This one had a doughy malt, yeast, mango. Light prickly bitter finish. Light to mid bodied, low carbonation. It didn't quite work for me but was ok.

Can from EeBria. Light cloudy amber with moderate sized white head. Aroma of toffee, sweet resin, grains, orange zest. Taste is nice if a little little disappointing, toffee grains, zest, syrupy resin, nice bitterness in back end but lacks a bit of depth. Still it's a barley wine so very drinkable.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has chocolate and spices with a hint of lactose. In the mouth it is briefly sweet with a slightly creamy texture before spices kick in and dominate with flavours of gingerbread and roasted malts plus hints of cloves. Some lactose comes through later leading to a dry and spicy finish. This is nice – gingerbread if evident but not overdone.

Creamy tan head on a mahogany coloured body. Liquorice, malt, berry & boozy tastes. Medium bodied, soft thinning out to a clean back. Blueberries, Parma Violets, liquorice, whisky & burnt tastes with a bitter finish. Nice enough.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Very dark brown with a loose uneven tan head. Creamy oats float over the burnt caramel, Ash, salt liquorice and bitter cooking chocolate in the aroma. Taste is overall sweet and creamy with a depth of flavour underneath. The finish is dry and ashy with suggestions of blackberry. Oily body, no carbonation. What a beer.
