Description
Alter Ego Brewing Co is a 2.5bbl brewery based in Heanor, Derbyshire right next door to the beautiful Shipley Park.
We are guilty of brewing beers that we enjoy to drink, but do not fear as this covers a wide range of styles right through from cask beers to more daring styles in can.
You can find our beer in local pubs, nationwide bottle shops or from our online shop for local delivery or collection from our micropub ,The Tip Inn. If you want your local bottle shop to stock our beer point them to our website :)

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark chestnut with minimal scummy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly malts with hints of stewed apples. In the mouth it starts off sweet, but some bitterness soon comes through. Flavour is mainly traditional hops and marmalade plus traces of raisins, apricot and parkin. Bitterness lasts into the finish. This is a decent traditional bitter.

Can with Dad and Pauline, Dead Man's Tankard, Heanor, Derbyshire Tuesday 2nd April 2024. Pours gold with the merest of haze, chill haze, white head. Malty nose, a suggestion of sweetness to come but not, very nice carbonation. This is okay and a decent stab at the style but lacks the wonderful simplicity, drinkabilty and crisp and freshness of the better examples of the style.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 05/03/24. Dark mahogany brown with a thin beige cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is smoked malts, campfire, oak, spice, tangy fruit rinds, vinous. Taste comprises stewed fruits, smoked malts, peated tones, figs, charr, fruit cake mix, Islay well evident, dates, burnt toffee, light TCP/medicinal hit. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Not bad but lacks some balance.
