Description
Alter Ego Brewing Co is a 2.5bbl brewery based in Heanor, Derbyshire right next door to the beautiful Shipley Park.

We are guilty of brewing beers that we enjoy to drink, but do not fear as this covers a wide range of styles right through from cask beers to more daring styles in can.

You can find our beer in local pubs, nationwide bottle shops or from our online shop for local delivery or collection from our micropub ,The Tip Inn. If you want your local bottle shop to stock our beer point them to our website :)

23/8/2023. Cask at the 44th Peterborough Beer Festival. Pours clear dark red amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of milk chocolate, malt, caramel, nut, light roasting. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slightly oily, soft carbonation. Quite okay.

Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small beige head and good lacing. The aroma is lainly cherries with some hints of lactose. Cherries again to the fore in the mouth, along with chocolate, roasted malts and some traces of hops. Later on there are hints of lactose, cola and vanilla and the finish is slightly bitter. This is rather nice.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Ruby brown and translucent with a small and loose beige head. Muted aroma of sweet malts, cherries. Taste is sweet, incredibly malt-driven, some stone a citrus fruit, leading to more hop bitterness in the balanced finish. Oily body with no carbonation. It's okay, I love a strong mild but this one is slightly on the dull side.
