Can at the DC Beer August Share. Poured a dark brown, nearly black color, with a tan head. Flavor was sweet chocolate roast malts with light ash and a touch of coffee. A smooth and satisfying porter with gentle roast character.

Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Roasty and mocha forward.. there are some tasty coffee notes in here. More of a coffee stout and the sweetness is balanced perfectly with the earthiness and mild bitters. Really nicely done. Best of the UT beers I had this week.

From can to a plastic cup in my hotel room, pours amber with a thin beige head. Rich aroma is sweet malty goodness. Citrus and caramel, a little pine. A balance of sweetness to bitters, I didn’t really find the rye to play much of a role. Lingering bittersweet finish.

Light amber pour with a persistent beige head. Sweet aroma with caramel and piney hops. Good depth of flavor. Smooth transition from sweet into a lingering bitterness. Light citrus and piney hops, caramel. It’s what I like in a DIPA; rich in flavor, but still an easy drinker.
